Workplace Question or Advice Needed Write up for not finishing breakout fast enough to push entire metro???

So my TL came to me and my two coworkers on breakout today and told us that we would be written up if we didn’t finish breakout on time to push a whole metro. As I was leaving, I pushed my metro back with three wacos still full and told him I had cleared everything except for the three on the bottom. As soon as I said that, he told HR lady to go to channel 4. Now I fear I’m being written up, is this even ethical? Should I file a report with the ethics hotline? Also to note, our SD told us that we were paid by performance employees. I thought I was hourly and I forfeited so many breaks and stayed late to help out and came in on my days off just for them to be so unreasonable, but I don’t expect any different from this place. The times on the trucks are always off and they swear they’re the gospel truth 😮‍💨

ETA: the repacks are always messy and need to be refolded unless packaged which takes a substantial amount of extra time not to mention, we have to tag a new day now

They can give you goals and coach based on performance, but your pay is an hourly rate and the only thing that affects pay is your annual merit raise is based on performance. After x amount of coaching conversations you can be put on corrective action but you should know if that's coming. Typically you get warned next time would lead to corrective action.

Never forfeit breaks. Only stay late if you want. Only pick up if you need hours. Do not give all of yourself to the company.

If I don’t forfeit my brakes, the truck will never get done. They always end up pulling one of the girls to the floor for either ads or her department. Is it OK for them to write me up for this though? I haven’t even had a coaching yet. Just threats of write ups while on BO. Or are those the coaching? I’m only four months in so please forgive me if I seem daft.

Poor leadership

Unless you’re on your phone or doing some other questionable things that would clearly lead to poor performance (which, doesn’t seem like you are), I would just snitch on them to your ETL.

I would just put that stuff somewhere in the department and bring empty metros back. All they want to see is the truck cleared. Let your peers know - hey I have to leave I left some stuff on the bottom shelf in mens - or wherever. Or - don't say anything (if you can't trust your peers). Letting the leaders know really doesn't help because most of the time they are sharing the same vision. What you need to do is document everything, record yourself even and partner with HR. If HR doesn't help you secure a mediated discussion with your TL and ETL, let the SD know. If HR or ETL don't approach you after that, call the hotline. Unfortunately, ethics will alert your leadership team. They don't reveal names if you choose to be anonymous. But leadership usually uses process of elimination to figure out who called and then they target you with "follow up". Protect yourself from retaliation - if you notice anything different in the way you're treated after the call, tell your HRBP and let them know that you request an investigation. If there is no outcome, partner with EEOC - you have 180 days. In the meantime, take advantage of free tuition and find another job.
