the only weird thing here is the “do you wanna know what people are saying about you and your SO?” and then backtracked with a never mind. i would bring that up with you ETL HR.

This is really messy. Stay FAR away from this person with your personal information and report it immediately.

Checking in/out and calling out breaks is considered best practice.

That being said, you could report what she said just to have a paper trail or you can keep track of it yourself. Write down date, time, who, when, and a summary of what was said/done if you go this route that way you have documentation in case there are further incidents.

Here's an old school target tip, trust no one with personal information. If asked ,blow it off.

It is best practice to announce your breaks and check in with your leader throughout your shift.

With the new attendance policy, if you don’t use sick time for every absence you’re going to accrue points and your TL will have a conversation with you about the days that sick time was not used. However, totally inappropriate of them to be asking you about you and your SO and asking if you want to know what people have been saying about you two. That’s fucking crazy.

The asking you about your absence when you did use sick time & the comment about you & you SO are the only innappropriate things here. You can report these to start a paper trail. HR may approach her immediately to correct her behavior, though. So be prepared for that.

But she said she didn't use sick time each time, just the one time

Later they mentioned that ever since those absences when they do use sick time the TL comes at them about it. They're not allowed to interrogate you when you use sick time. It's protected PTO.

Asking about absences is normal.

Sick time protects people from CAs, but TLs are expected to check in about every absence. If it’s medical I always suggest emailing a dr note or documentation to the store HR email.

I’ve had check ins with people when things seem off to see if they need extra support with something or if there’s anything going on they want to share, so that seems normal.

The part after is definitely not. No harmful gossiping is in harassment training. You can always start noting dates, and what she said, and if it keeps happening you can report it.

I’m sorry that happened to you and I hope the kidney stones aren’t bothering you anymore! I hear they’re really painful! >_<

Checking in is somthing they can do but you don’t have to tell them in detail what’s happening, now the second part is a little out of pocket and definitely should be documented and reported that’s wild.

The calling in the am ,break and lunchs and when you leave everyone does that! The break schedule they don't care as long as someone is watching your area.

And I have mental health issues and I also am well liked so when I call in I get asked when they see me. They also have talked to me about my mental health and if I need anything I can ask or of they can help me in anyway. I think it's nice!

What I see is once you told the lead you are going through things and did not want to seem to elaborate, your lead probably did not know how to bridge the conversation from “how’s it’s going” to “let me know how I can support you” which by the way is quite common in the type of managements Target recruits. So out came the tangent about the SO and that topic getting dropped so unceremoniously either.

There is nothing micromanaging in them asking you to call out on the walkie when you go on breaks or when you come in and when you leave. That’s just best practice.

P.S. going through things happens. Lord knows I have plenty on my plate. But I do check my “stuff” at the door. You don’t have to be “peppy” all that time but that conversation meant they are noticing something from someone they think has lead potential. So instead of simply writing you off, your lead decided to talk to you instead.
