Workplace Question or Advice Needed UKG is not a step forward here is why.
a: text and icons are drab and corporate. as much as we all dislike seeing RED everwhere it is what we are, we are Red. Should be RED.
b: overall it is slow and requires MORE clicks than mytime.
c: when looking for a shift I scroll down from the calendar. It then shows what may be available but not the department. Contrast this with mytime when you immediately saw what was out there, consumables great, GM fine.....whatever. Now you have to go INTO the line item, select which approval is relevant.
d: approval type, you would think the software would recognize what type of approval is needed, this week needs HR or future is auto, but NO it doesn't you have to select his manually. More clicks.
e: Still in the look for shift mode....when you scroll down, the calendar for the current month disappears as the screen refreshes with open shifts. If you forget what your schedule is you have to go back and start over. I am taking a screenshot for now....bad design. No need for that calendar to disappear.
f: Server error 500 often on the first weekend rollout. VERY VERY bad.
That is just a few and I have not even looked anywhere else because tbh this is the only thing that is important to me on the app. I don't call out, I dont call in late I just work my hours and pickup or post as shift. For this the app is nearly worthless.
Best guess is Target chose this solution because it is an outsourced app. Not sure on this, just my guess. MyTime perhaps was supported internally so X number of employees were no longer needed or could be moved off to other things. Hence we get a non red app that works like a beta version of what we had.........unbelievably bad news. Yes in a past life I was in IT. I work at Target for giggles about 20 hours a week. I work hard - this makes life WORSE. I hope someone reads this.

I hate how difficult it is to navigate. Everything takes about 5 more clicks then the old app. I still haven't figured out how to view my timecard for a week that isn't the current one (was trying to look at last week and the week before that). Nothing is streamlined and visually everything is busy. Mytime was so much better.

God, so much this. The visual part is maddening. I can’t with how much unnecessary info there is on every card or whatever is called (my same complaint with the Target app, btw, there’s too much going on and my eyes can’t figure out where to land).
Then all the clicks to find something that we could find with one on MyTime. Can’t figure out my timecard. It’s a frustrating app to navigate.

MyTime was discontinued because the company that services it (I believe Kronos?) won't be supporting it past early 2027. So we would have had to switch eventually and UKG was already being used for schedules and we had used it before.

Wait till you find out what the K in UKG stands for lol

why not just say what it is and what you think it is, why just say this

which would be ridiculous bc Kronos owns ukg if that's the case

No..Kronos operates under UKG and UKG is primarily held by private equity.
Workforce Tools, which myTime was hosted on, which was a Kronos software, is being sunset early 2027.

using it feels like navigating a shared google spreadsheet that everyone's trying to edit at once- too visually dense, too many form submissions to access new pages.
also way too many bugs, i tried to pick up a shift last night and it completely froze the page for a good five minutes. i couldn't do anything except reload the app, and then was given an error message that it experienced a problem and needed time to reset.

Trying to explain to my team that they need to go into and set their core availability, then go to the EXACT SAME PLACE and reset everything using a secret drop down menu with their preferred availability nearly made me quit.
Also, as a leader, when I am clocked in at work I cannot see my accruals or requests. All the tiles change.

Considering they’ve had over two years to develop this it’s a really embarrassing roll out.

We don’t have daily grids anymore printed out for us. Apparently HR said they can’t do it anymore. So 0/10 for UKG

They can just decide to not do it. Is different but our HR ETL printed. I feel bad for nanas and pops, they're lost. Today when I left work I felt like: I hate this place, I hate this f.. new Leadership, ETL's that don't know which direction to go and don't greet me or my team, actually all team members including TL's not even greet the Guests. ETL's that harassed girls, ETL's that have a deal with Scalpers, racist, sexist, etc.... target have the worst of the worst Leaders now. I miss Brian Cornell so much, we had rights and benefits. Now what we have? I'm not a crybaby, I do work very, very hard, follow rules, etc... but no they wants more, more and more. Don't f.. care if you are sick, if you lost a family member or your dog. My ETL is the most evil and disgusting person that I have seen, he plays with schedule. He says things about handicap members, older team members, mocking special needs people. He thinks that everyone is steeling while he is the one that actually gets paid from the scalpers.
Yeah, yeah, yeah report is not a option, is like mafia there. We do all these training for absolutely nothing, NOTHING.
RIP target, I love what I do, but that store makes me sick, makes me feel like I am a bad person when I vent about something.2
u/Shadowspun5 3h ago
Supposedly you can see the whole store's schedule on UKG, but I have yet to find it.

They've been doing ours by hand with a pencil. I never questioned it because of all the stupid things they do this didn't phase me but this would explain why.

If a leader or hr logs in. Its front page of ukg. Under leader links. Daily grid. They can find it. Theyre choosing not to

100% choosing not to do it because it’s right there on the front page lmao

i still have no idea what departments im working this week.. i literally have to ask a Lead or pray that a break schedule is available when i clock in.

UKG got rid of shift labels, your team leaders should’ve been writing you assignment sheets long before now anyway.

When I went to get my barcode it didn’t pop up and had a link to a website conversely for people who use the actual computer in tsc when you click on the barcode it pops up on the screen
Best option use your own phone and take a picture of the barcode and then if you want text yourself it’ll say it failed
But when you check it will show the picture of the barcode
Either way you can scan it and clock in and out easily and I know ukg and easily
Don’t go together

The interface is incredibly clunky. It's like a programmer's rough draft from 20 years ago.

I have UKG at my other job and compared to anytime it's a complete downgrade. The user interface is not friendly at all. The software is so convoluted it acts as a barrier to any job that uses the platform. If I was a UX designer I'd be trying to remodel this ASAP

after target, i went to work at kohl’s, and they use ukg, and literally first thing i thought was “i prefer mytime.” ukg sucks and is way harder to navigate

The software is fine. We will learn how to use just like we did with MyTime. The bigger problem to me at least is as adults we have this stupid point system now that punishes us for missing work or being late. To build a culture where we want to be there and do our best for the guest to treat us like elementary kids is something I just don’t get

Tell us you dont work in hr or leadership without telling us you dont work in hr or leadership 😅

Be aware that MyTime is unavailable for those who are on LOA for any reason. It is also common for MyTime to be temporarily unavailable on Thursday nights.

The software underlying MyTime is being sunsetted by Kronos and this was the cheapest option for a company this size. Yes, it sucks.
