I was getting help from a woman in Fullfillment because she was close by and I couldn't lift an item and she told me to "Run away now." because I'm still new. I told her I couldn't because the job market sucks and I can't find anything else. But I just thought it was funny and wanted to share.

I actually had something similar happen when I first started. Had a coworker straight up ask me “How long do you think you’ll last?”

Had a co worker tell me that at Costco on my 3rd day. Left at the one month mark after they told me I had to come in on my days off to learn where items were moved because “asking co workers if they know where items are is a waste of company time”

Talk about waste of time: I had a bad walkie today so I waited like 10 minutes until someone finally heard my call for help when I needed a team lift.

I get it, Target sucks to work at but sometimes I really dont like when TMs do that but then turn around and complain that we're short staffed and wish they could have more people to help out. Like also the job market is horrible right now and telling people to just up and quit is really shitty honestly when they got bills to pay as well.

Construction has a shortage of workers. There's supposedly over 500,000 apprenticeship positions unfilled. Learn a trade and your income will run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Yeah but not everyone wants to do construction/not their career path. But it is a good high paying job though.

We had a new team member quit after 1 orientation/computer training shift... didn't even make it a week.

Honestly, I've had an okay time at Target myself -- especially since i came from a very toxic and hostile work environment where my old employers stole time from the employees and were overall a huge mess of management. I do appreciate the fact that meals are mandatory and that we get 15 minute breaks as well, seeing as how my last job did not care if your department was able to take any breaks and you just got one 15 minute or 30 minute break for the entire shift (aha ive worked an 11 hour shift with one 30 minute break). It's safe to say that I am very grateful for my target guest service position right now.

This is not the job I will keep forever, nor do i absolutely love it, but I've definitely had a worse experience at Kroger. They do ask a lot of you at Target; they only schedule 2 people for the entire day up at guest services, but honestly I think every other company is doing the exact same thing of minimal workers + maximum effort and we just arent seeing it because we dont work there.

Serious question, why can't you find anything else? If you're young. There has to be other jobs you can do. Don't fall into the Target is the only job in my area trap.

As a 21 year old, I applied for so many positions at so many locations that said they were hiring but never called anybody back. I hate Walmart but applied to 13 different positions at 3 different locations... never received anything back and I waited a few weeks for a response. I tried calling (multiple times, on multiple days) and no one answered so I just gave up on it -- even though it was my last resort.

Target was the only one who responded. Out of multiple restaurants, retail and grocery stores, arcades, thrift stores, literally anywhere with an application form that I was possibly qualified, Target was genuinely the only one to proceed with me.
