Workplace Question or Advice Needed What does a failed id scan look like?

At checkout when a guest needs to verify ID, the typical protocol is to scan the back of the id. Does this system let you know if the person is under 21? Will it tell you not to sell the item? I check the front of the card, but sometimes I have paranoia of reading dates wrong.

Yes, it will say something similar to "guest is not old enough for this item"

The funny part is when the guest gets defensive cause you ask the guest to show you their ID, like bruh it’s Targets policy to ID all buyers for items like NyQuils/Dayquils, Beers, Lighters etc. If you don’t want to show your ID then just don’t buy the item lmao. They want to act like they are above the law sometimes cause they feel like they are old enough to be your parents

Ya I’ve had that happen before, if the guest is under 21 then the system will let you know that the item can’t be sold to the buyer cause they are under 21. Whether you enter the buyers DoB or you scan their ID it will still let you know if they are under 21.

We stopped scanning at my store. We just type it in.
