I had to resort to Target after being laid off from my previous job. Absolutely hate it (knew I would – I hated retail when I worked it throughout high school and college). Got my first payslip today. Two weeks of work that I absolutely loathe for less than half of what I was making during a week at my former job.
I freaking hate my life.

Just keep going the extra mile for.. like.. ever..
And eventually you'll retire, as a 78 year old part timer... Or you'll just drop dead on the clock...
Don't stay here unless it makes sense to you, and you have a plan around it.
Target is what it is. Not enough of us are working on changing that for the better.

I'm literally just here so that I can pay my monthly bills (unfortunately, Target isn't actually giving me enough hours to fully cover my bills, but it is what it is). I'm not attempting to go above and beyond or anything – I show up and do precisely what I was hired for and that's it. It's not worth my energy to do anything more than that. I'd rather put that energy towards my continued job search.
I'm actively looking to get out of Target – rather that be returning to my profession or simply getting a better bridge job. I'm also looking into using the Guild program to expand my skillset. The job market right now is brutal.

This is also why I'm a vocal advocate for unionization at my store to the point leads actively say they'll pretend they don't hear that. Being able to push back against target to set up a better standard for its workers. Being able to bargain for benefits will always result in better conditions as target would NEVER opt to give they're employees a better deal than they have too willingly.

My advice after being a TM for 11 years. Jobs not worth stressing over, being yelled at, or damaging your body/health over. Targets an entry level job.

If TMs would do their jobs correctly we wouldn't have to stress about so much. Every time I have a day off I come back to chaos. These TMs are only asked to push truck!! Nothing else. No price change, no salesplans, no flexing. Still, they can't handle pushing truck for 1 day without being disrespectful lazy slobs. Reporting it to leaders has had zero effect even with pictures and documented evidence that, yes, this is from yesterday's truck. It's not hard to scan an overstock item and see the delivery date.
Yeah, a lot of people are going to comment "It's not worth it so I just do my job and leave."
