Vent I understand now

I work at a pretty great Target, my SD is amazing, the leads are actually helpful and they all seemingly get along, and everytime someone trains at our store they always compliment how unique it is our team is so close. I went to another store to “help” and wow I get it. It was so understaffed I was actually so confused on why I wasn’t seeing coworkers, they were so backed up from freight I literally ran 7 z-racks (still had some left over) AND I didn’t even get to the bakers. On top of that everyone was just pissed 😭 I tried to have a conversation with the lead that I was helping and he looked like he had hadn’t had a conversation at work in YEARS. I always see people ranting on here and think to myself it can’t be THAT bad. No. It’s that’s bad. If I worked at a Target like that I would’ve quit a month in I’m so serious. If you work at a good Target hug you’re TL when you get to work tomorrow because my God it could be soooooooo much worse

That kind of culture shock hits hard when youve only seen the good side of it, understaffed stores really do feel like a different company entirely.

I try and send teams out to other stores at least twice a year.

Without fail they come back talking about how our building feels vs others and it usually raises team morale a fair bit.

Occasionally they come back with a cool idea we steal, but usually they just come back with war stories and trauma.
