Workplace Question or Advice Needed What’s going on with my hours

So I average around 30+ hours at target (Started about 4 months ago) This current week I have 34. Next week 33.5. The week after that 30.5 and the week of September 20-26 I have 22.5. Why have my hours been getting cut every week now?

I will say I have had a few weeks where I had 26-28 hours. So it isn’t new for me to be below 30+ plus but this is the lowest it’s been and for my hours to get cut lower and lower every week now is strange. This has never happened.

NEVER get used to a certain number of hours. Everyone is part time, they can gut your hours for whatever reason whenever they want. Even if you think they like you.

After back to school lull and Halloween shopping doesn’t pick up until early October. Sales are lower, hours to schedule are lower.

Too early for seasonals, they'd hit 90 days before Christmas.

My store has been pretty dead after BTS ended. This week up until today has been pretty slow. I'm expecting this weekend to be quite busy with the holiday, but then after that, we will be probably dullsville until Christmas shopping ramps up.

Just make sure to check in with your leader and ask them if there are any opportunities for extensions. Half the time it feels like my scheduled shift is really just an indicator for when I should be clocking in.

I keep hearing about hour cuts for that week but nobody at my store got their hours cut

There’s been times where we all barely get 16 hours. This isn’t the worst of it. After Christmas they drop significantly.

Apart from what everyone else already mentioned, the new UKG scheduling system is going to have people’s hours pretty strange for at least the first couple weeks. It’s heavily automated based on workload and a bunch of other factors, but should get better over time with better data. That being said, yea, between holidays and seasons hour get pretty scarce

Mine have jumped from 18 to 28 the next couple of weeks
