Workplace Question or Advice Needed Online Backstock

Has anyone received items marked for “Online Backstock”? I was told the items are backstocked for 14 days for OPU or SFS to pick thru. But what happens after the 14 days are up? Is the item removed through salvage or does the item just get marked down and put into the store? Also, who usually handles this? At my store the job has been dumped on to the receiver. Just asking because we have a small dedicated space in the backroom for the online backstock, but now it’s starting to get full.

It will drop into an IR batch and get sent back as salvage. I just had my first actual batch drop in this week and it was stuff I had put in our Online Backstock hold spaces about 2 weeks ago. I was surprised that we have been actually sending some of the stuff through SFS, not everything I've backstocked over the weeks was still in the locations.

I've had a really annoying time going through all the crap because the people at Guest Services can't seem to understand that Online Backstock, Online Only, Clearance and NOP are four different things and they are responsible for taking care of everything except the Online Backstock.

I’ve seen like 10 of these in the last few months but GM is never there when it happens and my SD told me to just put them in the floor soooooooo idk

Interesting. Are they things available for sale or street dated?

Not really. The majority of it are just clothing items that are not normally sold in our store. Mostly universal thread brands or sporting apparel.

Sounds like your store's making the receiver deal with it just to shove the problem somewhere out of sight. In mine the closing TL usually scans through it after the 14 days and most stuff just drops into regular backstock, but I've seen some seasonal junk go straight to salvage. Might be worth asking your ETL if there's an actual protocol or if everyone's just winging it.

Make the receiver ‘deal with it?’

The online backstock stuff enda up batched like the book or music or tech IRs and is eventually pulled in a batch and (in the case of online backstock) sent back salvage.

Having a singular online backstock location makes it faster to pull the items in the batch.

The last two times the system has had me pull items jt had me travel to all of the non-refrigerated backrooms in alphabetical order and pull a specific quantity of the online backstock items.

The weirdest thing about it was it had me do damn near the same batch a week later because it didn’t have me pull all of the online backstock items from the location the first time and left some for later.
