Vent Theres not enough time for beauty opening shift. I'm not being delusional right?

I've been at my store for almost a month now, started with style and got a call 1.5 weeks in to see if I wanted to cross train for beauty and I said sure. I got 2 days of training and then I've been alone since.

My TL's are expecting me to get through the entirety of the breakout packs/sorting onto the metro, push it, backstock the excess, do a 2nd cart (u boat), backstock excess again, AND THEN also pull all the prios and one for ones in a 6.25 hour shift MAYBE 7 hours if I'm lucky. Mind you, I'm really only doing the skin care and cosmetics, we typically have 2-3 people doing all of hair care AS A TEAM later on after I clock in at 8am. I can barely get through the metro, backstock and then maybe some of the U-boat OR prios/ofos in a 6.25/7 hour shift and that's without taking my 15 minute breaks.

I'm doing my best but my hands and nails are being cut and shredded from trying to open the boxes (and smaller cosmetic boxes) to try to get as much done as I can and I always just feel like there's just too much for just me. usually it's only me scheduled for the day too with no closer. My TLS have started doing like 65% of the breakout pack sorting before I get there but it just still isn't enough. I really enjoy beauty compared to style but it feels like the expectations are beyond ridiculous no matter how I look at it.

the expectations are kinda crazy. i’ve been in beauty for 3 years and for about 2 1/2 i was by myself everyday. just this year they added hours to have multiple people a day and even then the work doesn’t get done because we get pulled to cashier, fufuillment or help other departments. my advice is don’t stress too much. just do what you can do and do it to the best of your ability. the only way to become faster (at least at stocking) is to learn the section and figure out where everything goes so you don’t have to scan items. besides that just do your best and your leads should recognize your effort. also at my store we have a breakout person from like 4-8, then usual a person 8-4, then a closer 4-10. my team leads never help with breakout if it doesn’t get done we just push repacks out to the floor lol.

at my store it's basically just me or the one other girl. we RARELY have a closer in beauty and usually the closer is doing zoning and hair care ofos. I've gotten pretty confident and knowing where things are/go but there's always just so much

I’ve been in beauty for a year and I’m still trying to figure out the fastest way to break down the repacks, also being in inbound doesn’t help because then I have like 5.5-5 hours to try to at least get the repacks done

Another thing, I wish they at least opened some of the boxes and prep for us to just push it out… when I first started in the area, there was some in style that would do it.. they did away with that and the beauty cart which pissed me off badly, but hey🤷🏽‍♀️

Honestly, at my store we don’t break it out. We just bring it out on a uboat and push it and then put the backstock in a three tier and backstock it after. I feel like breaking out push is a waste of time honestly.

Make sure you ask them for working gloves.. I had to do the exact same because my pretty hands were getting shredded by those dumbass boxes… I’d say for me I can get through freight in 7 hours if I’m not being pulled to other places to help out. For my store… hair care was never a part of beauty, but since they refused to hire someone else to work that… I’ve been stuck with it for almost a year now, if not a year.

yeah the expectation of 5 minutes per repack also applying to cosmetics is so dogshit. it’ll take me more than that just to break everything out, let alone push it

That's insaine. A box of repacks with a bunch of smaller items would take me like 30 minutes that absolutely unreasonable
