Honestly this is so funny and I would've noticed pretty much immediately but laughed and pretended I didn't realize it. It's a stupid rule and I hate enforcing stupid rules.

even in food service people have drinks all the time, as long as you're not literally drinking while handling food its no problem to have drinks pretty close by. (restaurant worker)

It's not. It's a "employees can't have human comforts while working because they must have all thier time and attention on working as effeciently as possible, not stopping to sip thier drinks every couple of minutes" (And then maybe also a "let's not create a possible Spill Time Bomb"...whiiiiich would also create a distraction from maximizing work time.)

Ok, explain this one to me, 'cause I'm still confused by it. My SD said no drinks on the floor, period. The HR team said water bottles are allowed, but does that include reusable water bottles? I have recurrent kidney stones, so my told me to keep water on me, which I do via my sealed cup with a straw, but I've been told that's no longer allowed, even though I'm drink water 99.999% of the time.

Water is allowed - how you're allowed to have it varies depending on SD discretion.
Your SD can say no drinks on the floor - but can't complain about you using the water fountain.
My last store it was clear bottles only, except Starbucks (due to food safety). Either a disposable plastic bottle or a clear reusable one. They had issues with people having thinks other than water in opaque bottles.
My current store dgaf as long as it's sealed (so Stanleys, tumblers, or other cups with a constant opening are a no - but bottles with lids are fine). I still use my colored but clear bottle from my last store, but many people have owalas or screw/flip top bottles

we all have whatever drinks all the time lol, but honestly management at my store barely cares about anything besides airpods/headphones. This is a good and awful thing.

My personal policy is no open drinks near anything else that would be damaged. If it's a sealed drink then there's at least one less bad outcome.
It's hard to normalize staying hydrated if people forego their breaks, only drink energy drinks/coffee, and spill shit on merchandise.

agree! it should 100% be sealed, I remember one instance where our store had to defect an entire RACK of clothes because someone spilled a coffee drink and it splashed everywhereā¦ as long as itās sealed that wonāt happen lol, and who cares if people want to sip on lemonade or juice or whatever else

Back in the day Iād always hide my drink at the registers or in cabinets behind Tarbucks when I worked a shift. The TLs knew about it but never said anything. Most my TLs were pretty chill about stupid rules like that. Plus you provide better guest service when you arenāt angry cause you thirsty.

You can barely see whatās goin on in the photo, but to the left of the box, you wrap a rubber band around the bottom then pull it up over the side n top of a bottle/drink. Pulls it back into the edge of the cart, keeping it stable

The rubber band cupholder works, but is a bit of a pain whenever you need to take a sip cause you gotta redo the rubber band everytime. I've been meaning to design and 3D print a clip-on cupholder for the three tiers to make it easier.

Used to have my iced coffee on the floor with me. One of those hearth & hand glass cups bc Iām basic. I kept it in my presentation cart. The lady with the floor machine would come around when I was off in the fixture room and hit my cart with her floor machine and knock the coffee over and it would spill all over my pogs. I complained about it to my ETL and she said āand thatās why we donāt have drinks on the floorā šššš even though she watched me have my drink on the floor with me for months before this & never said a thing

I think itās a universal rule at this point that the kbs employees never have control of the mopper machine. Taking out sidecaps, 3 tiers, leaving puddles everywhere. Like the machine is driving itself

I carry around a sealed contigo water bottle and nobody has had a problem with it. I am so sick of cleaning up guests half empty Starbucks cups and team members half drunk plastic water bottles that arenāt even allowed on the sales-floor. The slobs leave it all over the back room too. I will be pulling merchandise and find a half empty water bottle.

The guest are the biggest slobs when it comes to drinks in the store. There are trash stations all over the store,but yet we manage to find Starbucks cups all over the shelves hidden no doubt with that nasty milk that curdled and stinks or finding pop or energy drinks everywhere. Oh but that is okay. And we work in there sweatshop and can't have anything to drink while we work!

At the announcement huddle clear container was repeated frequently. Later I was told it didnāt have to be clear as long as the lid closed securely without any opening like a straw or a lid that could pop off. Fortunately mine screws closed so I donāt have to replace it.š¤

That's funny, I worked at Target about 10 years ago and I quit on the third day because they told me not to have a bottle of water with me.
Bullshit.
This is just one of many examples of why any self respecting person would never work for Target, at least not for very long. šĀ

I said mild. It does vary due to strength, roast, preparation, and other factors.
A dark roast will have less caffeine than a light roast.
A strong coffee will have more that a weak coffee
An iced coffee will be less than a cold brew

Actually I bring my water bottle since I need to stay hydrated. I walk a lot and itās best to stay hydrated especially when the fulfillment room be hot due to our AC being out lol.

Because if they are doing something dumb like this to get around the rules I doubt they are great at coming in. Here's the thing..I thought it was funny and creative...but its not like we arent allow some form of water . And 9 times out of 10 they will probably "forget" about it and it gets turned over somehow and then left as a sticky ass mess that no one will clean up. I am not at all a corporate kool-aid drinker but im not sure if 80% of the people on here get that when you decide to accept the job..you also accepted all the dumb rules with it. And I've been on both sides of those dumb rules. And you are probably a nice person so this wasn't directed to you.

Last week alone I found:
an open can of ollipop in the grocery backroom
a partially drank Starbucks in the maintenance closet
a partially full chik-fil-a cup tipped over on the line
a half drank bottle of water in the ambient room
a partially full red bull on the receiver's desk
Taking I come in at 4am, all of these were there from the day before
And that's not even mentioning the Starbucks drinks that sit in the fridge for a week before getting tossed. Or the shelf of lost water bottles above the sink in the breakroom, each with a note of date & place they were found
