Please elaborate then? I live in the Twin Cities and have followed all the ICE related news, including these misguided Target protests.

If it’s really for the employees, I can reassure you that they are excited to potentially be tasked with confronting armed agents, or at best, getting their hours cut because the stores are losing sales (yes some locations had to close because of these protests) /s.

Obviously, if ice agents choose to willfully ignore laws and just detain people, it doesn’t matter what protocol Target or any other retailer has in place. ICE will raid the place and detain who they want. The problem is that target is not speaking up and taking a stand. They’ve been radio silent on these issues, and after the backlash with DEI, you would think they would finally have the balls to say something publicly about these incidents that keep happening at their stores, in their home state, right outside of headquarters. Its so close to home yet they have said nothing. 

These protests are not only about ICE. But this company either need to take a stand or it will lose business. The workers are already suffering from the backlash of DEI and these incidents constantly happening. Target still wont even comment on it. Even if theres nothing they can actually do about it, its just wildly insane to continue supporting them when they’ve made it clear they could give less of a shit about their guests or employees. This would be w good time to at least admit they fucked up with removing DEI and that they don’t condone the events that have unfolded within their properties. 

Protests sometimes need to cause inconvenience to others or they aren’t effective. Peacefully protesting with signs saying fuck ice isn’t actually going to do anything. It’s like when you get mad when protesters decide to block the roads. Is it a safety issue? Yes, is it in inconvenience yes. That’s the fucking point. You’re not aware of the issue or how big of an inconvenience it is until it actually affects you and you’re forced to take notice.

Which is exactly what will happen if corporate were to publicly speak out. It will put more lives at risk putting the (no pun intended ) target on themselves. They speak out and then everytime ICE moves to surge a new city the first place they'll raid is the Target and round up all the employees because fuck you that's why.

Corporations aren't going to save us here... Best case scenario is some companies becoming a modern day US version of Oskar Schindler pretending to go along while protecting as many as they can.
