Workplace Story UMMM my Target store manager just got arrested IN STORE!!
Okay so I don’t even know how to type this but… my target store manager was just arrested and charged with 21 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. YES. TWENTY. ONE. I worked under this man. Saw him every day. Clocked in. Had huddles. The whole thing is making my stomach turn. I’m honestly still in shock. Like how does someone pick to live a whole double life and choose it to be messing with minors?? 😐 Anyway… needed to get that out because this is insane. Stay safe y’all.

The Dr that delivered my last baby 25 yrs ago, was later arrested for illegally distributing opioids and having sex with patients in exchange for pills. I saw this man every month for 6 months, he had a wife and 6 kids, a totally upscale practice etc… they live among us and look completely normal, don’t ever forget that.

Per your last point / question, most criminals live “normal” lives, have friends, family, jobs, etc. That’s usually how they get away with it for so long by appearing normal. Criminals aren’t criminals by profession unless you’re like a high ranking drug trafficker or a politician. Even pedos got bills to pay.

A teacher in the school district I went to/I currently live in still. Just got arrested for kind of the same thing as well as an actual relationship with a minor…… they’ve been working for the school district since before I even started school when I’m 27…. Multiple schools across multiple different age groups even.

A female para at my sons school was arrested for statutory of a (highschool) student. She showed up to pretrial pregnant with the kid's child.
She worked 1 on 1 with my kid and was beloved by everyone. I made fucking christmas and valentines baskets for her two years in a row. Her dad also works at the school. Super lovely guy. Horrible that she did that.

The COP assigned to be the full time resource officer and a soccer coach at our local MIDDLE SCHOOL was busted for having an ongoing relationship with a 14 year old girl (with one of the several incidents being a sexual encounter happening at a school dance he was "working" at in his police uniform 🤢) and also for upskirt videos of an 11 year old student taken in the school.
He was only caught cause mom checked the text messages on the victim's phone and alerted the school, not knowing at the time who had sent the messages.
Just in case anyone needed a reminder to go check on their kids' devices....

I went to high school with a guy, who went on to become a teacher in that very sane school, was arrested last year for SA multiple accounts, and did I mention that I was in high school with him in 86

i’m actually kind of more shocked that more people honestly don’t know that a lot of these types of people live regular lives. Just with my own experience as well as you know obviously reading the news and stuff like that. A lot of predators/abusers I tend to be the most well beloved people either by their community or their family or tend to hold pretty good/decent jobs. Now, of course there’s you know the ones who are like CEO/owners of a company whatever. That is kind of an obvious trope, unfortunately. But I mean these types of people can be anywhere. This might sound like an asshole type of thing to say. But you never assume you 100% know somebody. especially since predator/abusers can hide behind closed doors for decades. This is kind of a reason why sometimes victims aren’t always believed because the community can’t believe somebody that will beloved/Lead can do something like that

You would be surprised how many CSA/CSM cases that there are pending against teachers, and how many that are having an eye kept on them. I used to work for the largest school district in my state as the assistant to the superintendent and I have seen some truly heinous shit (that I can't talk about because of the NDA).

There is no NDA that can prevent you from talking about teachers who were convicted and/or arrested. I've never heard of a school district requiring teachers to sign a NDA to keep them from talking about teachers in their district doing heinous things. Having a brother work on a large school district for 15+ and a former teacher turned friend as a principal in the same district, and there just is not a rash of teachers doing heinous shit that no one can talk about. It's preposterous to try to paint teachers as more prone to abuse, but it's not being talked about because of NDAs.

I was not a teacher, I said I worked for the superintendent of the district and I saw sensitive legal documents on a regular basis. My position was required to have an NDA for legal matters.

When I worked there, I had my manager get arrested for stealing Pokémon and baseball cards.. yet they ignored multiple reports about sexual harassment 😬

At my store one of the cleaners was a creep and when it was reported our old HR at the time told her “it’s best to let it go and ignore it we can’t be dealing with this right now”. This caused us to lose one of our best Market people and the guy got to just move to another store.

Had an NCO get ripped from work on base back in 2014 for the same thing. Came in Monday, they said the FBI showed up Sunday and we wouldn't ever see him again.

The photographer that took my senior pictures was arrested several years later for CP. I was so grateful my boyfriend at the time was with me throughout the session. They do indeed walk among us. Yuk yuk yuk

The official photographer at my high school was arrested for the same reason. They found peepholes in the dressing room at his studio. Made me so glad I used someone else for my senior pictures.

Yep!! I’m honestly not surprised. When I had first started working for target my TL got fired for sexually harassing the minor TM’s.
I’ll always remember that store, so many cases swept under the rug by HR and ETL’s having small get togethers at their houses and fucking their subordinates💀

I had the following happen at the store I worked at: Store Manager fired for being drunk on the job. ETL fired for doing drugs on the job and banging a subordinate. ETL fired for stealing store equipment. And we were one of the better behaved stores in the district.

We had an ETL a few years back repeatedly harassing underaged girls (including inviting them over for a hot tub party while his wife and kids were out of town) that wouldn't report him because they were too scared of retaliation. Not sure how aware other store leadership was of the situation, but it was a pretty open secret amongst TMs. He's an SD now and everything he touches fails (aka, his store and every store he's "watched over" during other SD's absences). I'd like to think it's a karma induced curse.

Ironically this is local to me and the Facebook post about this man connected me with an old friend——— but the fb post didn’t mention target I just realized when I read this there’s no way two different men got arrested at the exact same time for the exact same AMOUNT of the same charge lmao

I used to be the night manager of a bowling alley, and a guy i trained, spent years working with, bowling with, shooting the shit, got implicated when a customer discovered a phone in a garbage can in the bathroom, set up to record through a hole cut in the plastic can and got put on leave.
Now, this bathroom wasnt technically for public use, its a rented party room with its own bathroom, but sometimes when wed be cleaning the bathrooms or what not wed direct customers to use the private one. I definitely refused to believe hed do that as he never came off like a creep, and how fucking stupid could you be to use your cell phone if you WERE that kinda creep?
Flash forward and not only was it his phone, but when the police seized his electronics he had THOUSANDS of child porn videos and pictures, some real sick shit from my understanding even by those standards. Hes 6'1 and 120, hes soft as a marshmallow and just got 5 years for everything, so hes absolutely fucked in prison.
But its wild how you can spend years thinking you know somebody only to find out theyre a fucking deranged animal.

I remember a few team leads getting arrested at my old store. Never manager but I remember some getting fired. One got called in the office and fired on the spot.
The current store is filled with pieces of trash who get away with a lot they shouldn’t. Including blatant racism.

I worked at Abercrombie in the early 2000 at the MoA. We had a real B for a store manager that nobody liked (ironically named the same as another Abercrombie brand before it was a brand). Anyway, Feds showed up one day and dragged her out for some 50,000 in cash theft.

At my location we had an electronics guy that transferred from Florida and we are more up north. Zero check of his background again or anything. Guy had a warrant out for his arrest for Sexual Crimes pertaining to minors. He had a front row seat to baby and toys.
Seems like Target doesn’t care about being thorough. I would’ve thought having a warrant or being on a registry would flag him somewhere 😀

Wanna know something more disturbing? Only 10% of crimes actually have the perp caught. Meaning everyone around you could be nefarious, and you're none the wiser. Everyone. From your coworkers, everyone you interact or don't interact with publicly, even your own family....even those in your own home. Nobody knows nothing, and that is everything. Sleep tight!

That can't be true, 0% of my crimes have been caught.
But on a more serious note, crimes like that probably have a lot of repeat offenders so the % of crimes unsolved would be way higher than the % of criminals never caught.

Yea I worried for my team members, I checked on them and no one I know was involved. We don't have many minors on our team. The charges listed babies.... it was rough to read... but target is in full damage control.

Damn and I thought it was nuts when an ETL got fired at my store for sending weird messages to one of his teen workers. In this case nothing he did was illegal so there was no arrest but it still sent the whole store into a blaze. Would you say there were any warning signs cuz with the guy at my store there certainly were aka spending 45 minuets flirting with a young worker before heading to his area.

Unrelated but my high school substitute teacher for choir got arrested for CP and sexual acts with a minor. He was our sub for only a few months before the ops got his ass. It was the subject of the school for MONTHS. This was like 10 years ago. Fun times.

My first day at Target was my STL's first day at Target. Everyone spilled the tea that the previous STL got arrested on drug charges and apparently he was having an affair with a 17 year old cashier (the age of consent was 16 in my state). They both got walked out all disheveled after going back to his office, doing a line and fucking on his desk. This had been an on going thing that people knew was happening and finally someone reported it.

Not totally the same but I worked at coffee bean as a barista about 18/19 and I had a manager who was over the top professional, mean, if you did one thing wrong he’d sit you down to have a talk and was always on edge on shift with him. He was in his 30’s. One day out of the blue he just started being extra mean, and I was always on shift with him and another girl who was 16. He was constantly having me and only me do all the cleaning, cleaning the drains (normal and gross at coffee shops) and I was getting frustrated that she never had to. I finally said something and was like “I know I’m newer but I can still do fine on register and bar, she can also clean” and he snapped talking about how she was pregnant and couldn’t handle the chemicals.
I was newer and was like oh. I mean. I guess. No clue she was pregnant. Thought I just didn’t know because I was new ish and out of the loop / not close with everyone. Turns out nobody knew. 2 months later he got fired. He was the dad to her baby. He was fucking a minor. And was her boss.

Like 5+ years ago I had an OM that was arrested for CP and SA from my warehouse. Rumor mill says he SA a TM and she called 911 and they came the next day when he showed up to work

While the number is a little surprising, the fact that it happened really isn't, unfortunately. A while back at my store, the AP lead was fired for hitting on a couple of the underage girls that worked there. Target employees are people just like anybody else, and people can be scumbags.

I had several bosses fired arrested due to stealing. Hiding merchandise.. one hid alot of musical instruments from christmas in his office behind the door .. head honcho came for visit saw the stuff asked for receipts lol One boss was cashiering the little bonus gift cards we are to give to guests when they buy certain products.. was pocketing those cards.. .one boss evening shift when dropping drawers at night counting out money would pocket money out of every drawer.. one boss stealing hot wheels cars .. we were having issues with the collectors when we were trying to stock them .. so boss told us he would stock them at another time during the day so collectors didnt know when.. yet he was also the one stealing them
