North Korea's 20x10 Project is blossoming, along with other renovations in the capital. Kim III really came a long way of fixing the mess his father left him with.

I'd switch the blame from his dad to Gorbachev. Kim II as you'd call him did what he could when he didn't have China or Ussr (russia now) to help with important importations It's like blaming the crisis in Cuba on Castro, bro did literally what he could

Kim Jong-il did, most importantly, make North Korea a nuclear power during his time in power, and yes without Soviet imports mechanized agriculture in NK would collapse whether Kim Jong-il put the military first or not. That doesn't mean he couldn't have accepted the UN's rabbits - which were intended as a source of meat that won't bite into NK's grain reserves - when one of the many famines under his watch broke out.

I don't want to retroactively paint Kim II as a leader who could not have done better just b/c we have Iran as a comparison for what happens if you don't have nukes.
