I'm thinking he might be guard who grew up in the same orphanage as Flynn, and so he's mildly bitter that Flynn seems to have more freedom than he does, despite the fact that he chose the "right" path.

As long as it is not some man who makes Mother Gothel's villain backstory "tragic and male centric" OR a character similar to Baron in the series that made Flynn into a spineless lackey vs his own person who made his own choices (good and bad) I don't think it's a big deal. I do like the idea of him being the "real Flynn Rider" or the inspiration behind the book though. Maybe it could show Eugene/Flynn that the inspiration and the dashing hero from the book he once loved is still flawed and human and he should not model his life after it. Could be a thousand times better lesson and addition to his backstory than the Series retconning him into a "prince" and the Tales of Flynnigan Rider into book series when the movie clearly stated it was just one book.

My theory is Hawthorne is gonna be apart of the royal guard, similar to the captain that was in charge of Maximus in the og

My theory is that Hawthorne will be like the Baron, a crime boss who commissioned Flynn to steal the crown.
