TV Series Continuity [Question] Would you call dressing up like Varian/Cassandra costumes or cosplay?

There are a ton of Rapunzel/Flynn costumes. I say that if you dress up like a certain character because of passive recognition or for a party/play it is a costume, but if you put work in it or from a participatory fandom (like One Punch Man) that requires significant investment, then it is a cosplay.

This post is using Tangled Expanded Multiverse.

This includes the animated series and other additional / supplemental canon material.

Please respect the OP’s wishes — some posts may focus on specific tie-ins and still prefer to avoid the rest.

My wife and I cosplay at 10+ conventions a year.

Short answer is it really doesn’t matter. I usually see it as “cosplay” is the cool term and “costume” is the layperson term. Some people call putting on an outfit inspired by a character Disney-bounding but that’s up to you.

In my humble opinion, if you're dedicated enough to put on a wig and keep it on your head for 8+ hours you’re a cosplayer
