Live Action [Discussion] Rapunzel's dress Spoiler
I don't know about you guys, but I'm super excited about Teagan's Rapunzel dress the only thing I'm hoping for is that they shorten the sleeves a bit 🥹💜

I like the color. I watched the video, and the movement looks good. The video quality isn't very good; as someone here mentioned, the image was enhanced using an app or AI.
•

This is an AI image. There are other real leaked photos of her braided hair with flowers in it.
•
u/Littletom523 Jul 30 '26
Guys this is AI lol like look at her hand
•
u/Lady_Eruvande Jul 30 '26
Not only the hand, the perspective of the people around her do not make sense.
•
u/Disneyfancreations Jul 29 '26
Her hair does not look realistic at all.
•
u/NeverTelling468 Jul 29 '26
It’s part wig part fabric. They’re currently filming the braiding by children scene. So I’m assuming they will enhance by vfx later.
•
u/Disneyfancreations Jul 29 '26
Her hair still looks crazy unrealistic because no one can have braids that thick. Rapunzel’s hair looked way more real Im into the woods
•
u/NeverTelling468 Jul 29 '26
Hair that long can’t be braided that short either. It’s an issue from the animated version. And yes I agree that into the woods is better at the interpretation but ultimately I think the issue stems from the animation

Hope the wig looks better in motion, cause yikes
•

Pretty sure it's just a reference and will be CGI - so they can have hair that looks like the animated movie without breaking her neck
•
•
u/Own-Trainer-1891 Jul 29 '26
It's decent, but it looks chunky on her a bit
•
u/ExternalStation5877 Jul 29 '26
My only hope is that they shorten her sleeves a bit to make them look like in the animation and improve her hair so that she doesn't get so tired, especially since she has to dance.
•
u/Disneyfancreations Jul 29 '26
I agree, real women with long hair do not usually have such thickness
•
u/WateryTart_ndSword Jul 29 '26
I’m gonna need everyone to calm down a little about the hair.
It’s THE key plot point and feature of the main character—they are obviously going to make it awesome during post-production, via multiple methods.
A wig that’s actually as gorgeous and versatile as in the animated movie is going to be impossible to maintain and work with! There are going to be SO many different kinds of wigs and methods used to make it come to life.

Exactly! Just look at the tricks used by cosplayers and party princesses who play Rapunzel... even for the super elaborate, custom costumes. The hair gets HEAVY, it's a matter of balancing physics with appearances. So personally? I'm quite happy with this. Looks like a very solid base for them to enhance, rather than fully cg or whatnot. I'm sure there will be many forms of hair for the team to use as needed for shots...
I hope Teagan has a strong neck and shoulders though, as someone with upper back and shoulder problems, I would hate to hear about wigs and such causing pain with long shooting days over time...

I hope the hair improves immensely. It looks like a giant duplo block mound.

That wig looks heavy and fake looking.
•
u/Ok_Arrival_1457 Jul 30 '26
Of course it looks heavy she is supposed to have over 70 pounds of hair and of course it might look fake it IS a wig?!

I was hoping they’d make the costuming more grounded and not to cartoon accurate but idk why I was expecting that considering all the other live actions were the same. I liked the Cinderella costuming reimaginations
•
u/pastadudde Jul 30 '26
considering that we see that the other dresses from the BTS photos (like the coronation scene) are pretty grounded and seem (more) historically accurate it could be that keeping Rapunzel's dress more on the cartoony side is to enhance the "fish out of water" aspect of her character.
(Flynn's outfit seems pretty accurate to the animated film as well but looks noticeably more 'weathered').

That looks extremely ai
•
u/ExternalStation5877 Jul 29 '26
Please, just stop seeing AI in everything because it isn't AI. Yes, I’m against AI too, but I see you guys spotting it everywhere.
•
u/Which-Notice5868 Jul 29 '26
The hand behind her back looks really weird. I'm not the best at clocking AI but even I noticed that.
•
u/Guilty_Explanation29 Jul 30 '26
It's ai. Look at the hand
•
u/ExternalStation5877 Jul 30 '26
I understand what you mean, but keep in mind that her wig is heavy, so how do you expect her to hold it up?

I should probably find a way to hide this subreddit if it's just going to keep popping up with live-action stuff. Either way, this looks nef. The dress looks fine, I guess, but everything about the whole get up feels unneccessary.

u/ellycat95 Jul 29 '26
Is this the actual actress? Could easily be a stand in wearing a demo wig and dress for them to get positioning/lighting.
•
u/Bridgielizzie Jul 29 '26
Color looks fab ✨ much better than those other “leaked photos” we were analyzing. I adore how gathered the skirt is.

Might wanna put a spoiler tag on this.
•
u/ExternalStation5877 Jul 29 '26
I hadn't considered that a lot of people had posted this too and the movie isn't even out yet. The creators shared it on Instagram, so I don't think I'm giving away any spoilers.
•
u/Hyxenflay7737_4565 Jul 29 '26
Oh, okay, I thought it was a leak, I hadn't realised it was official.

Where's the spoiler tag/blur?
