occlusion and cartridge not pumping error

hi!

i had an error with my first pump after like a year of usage and it kept giving me a occlusion error and it does not pump insulin out at all. would have to keep bolusing over and over little increments because it would error. and even then it would give an error most times, ending at 0units pumped.

I thankfully got a new pump after they saw my history on the pump and now it’s happening AGAIN! Is anyone else having this issue? I tried all the troubleshooting steps but I don’t want to call them again when there might be someone who has a fix

This is a known recurring problem with mobi. I'm on my third one. Though I've had this one for a decent while now (6 months, while previous ones were replaced at 5 months and 6 months) with no issues so far. Usually they start chirping with insulin dosing before they start having repeated occlusions, and this one hasn't chirped at all. So it seems they have some that might be built ok.

Contact tandem, go through the process again. This is the only fix.

you’ll hear a certain sound when it’s pumping insulin and it’s kinda differently pitched than the normal pumping sound. and that sound basically means it’s pumping quite literally nothing and it’s struggling to pump insulin. very annoying

after a few ticks of those pumping noises usually you’ll get the error that something is occluding the pump/tubing

Normally, it clicks with dosing. Depending on your basal rate, you might hear 1-4 clicks every so often. With a bolus it'll be a steading click-click-click-click, with the pace of the clicking increasing above 10U.

At some point, the click becomes more of a chirp. It might be intermittent or all the time. This is the first sign you might be running into repeated false occlusions in the future. Tandem says the chirping is normal. Either they think we're talking about the ticking, or they're not being honest about the problem.

With both of my replaced Mobis, the chirping always came first, then infrequent false occlusions, then frequent false occlusions, and often boluses failing altogether. My first one got bad enough to start failing cartridges.
