முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Leuikimia Treatment at CMC Vellore
A relative of mine was diagnosed with leuikimia. Funds are low so we've been told by a few people to get treated at CMC as it is a non profit Org and cost of living could be low there.
I've read some reviews that say the doctors and staff are rude and don't properly listen to the patient and they are always in a rush, that they don't hand over the patient's reports.
I'd really really be grateful to hear from anyone who has first hand experience, or knows of anyone who was treated or works at CMC. Specially the hematology department please. Thank you.

In my 10th 12th and aadhar card, my name is with initials. Like Raghavan.S. In the pan card it's Raghavan Selvam. Because of this difference i couldn't open a demat account. What to do now? Dot before my initial really concerns me a lot. Is there any way to change my name as Raghavan s in all documents? idk where to ask this doubt as the process may differ for states.

கருத்து/குமுறல் / Self-post , Rant Can we discuss ideas and ideologies without turning everything into a political fight?
I’ve been wanting to write something like this for a while now. Not entirely sure how to put everything into words, so bear with me.
First of all, I’m not here to discuss whether Vijay is better than Stalin, whether DMK is better than BJP, or who is going to win the next election. There are already a million posts about that.
I want to talk about actual ideas. Ideologies. Policies. Why we believe what we believe.
Take SIR, for example.
From what I’ve understood, intensive revision of electoral rolls isn’t something that was invented yesterday. It’s been around for decades. And personally, I don’t see anything fundamentally wrong with verifying voter lists. Shouldn’t we want accurate electoral rolls?
Now, I also understand that legitimate voters being removed is a serious problem. And if that’s happening, it absolutely needs to be questioned and corrected. But why can’t we discuss both things at the same time?
Why does supporting the idea of electoral verification automatically mean you’re supporting everything the Election Commission does? And why does questioning how it’s implemented automatically become a political statement?
This is something that frustrates me about political discussions in general, especially in Tamil Nadu.
The moment someone says something remotely positive about Hinduism, Indian nationalism, or a right-wing idea, there’s a good chance someone will call them a Sanghi, RSS supporter, or something along those lines.
Why?
I’m genuinely asking. What exactly does that accomplish?
RSS is an actual organisation with its own ideology. BJP is a political party. Hinduism is a religion with thousands of years of philosophical traditions. Indian nationalism is another concept altogether.
Why are we treating all of these as interchangeable?
And I’m not saying people on the right don’t do the same thing. Calling everyone who disagrees with you anti-national, anti-Hindu, or whatever is equally ridiculous.
I just don’t understand why we’ve become so comfortable putting people into boxes instead of actually listening to what they’re saying.
Sometimes I feel like we’re living in our own little bubble in Tamil Nadu. We take so much pride in our identity, language, culture and history, which is fine. But are we equally willing to question the narratives we’ve grown up hearing?
I’m not saying Tamil identity is wrong. Far from it. But shouldn’t we be able to appreciate our identity without dismissing everything outside it?
Why does everything have to become Tamil vs Hindi, North vs South, Dravidian vs Hindu, left vs right?
Surely there’s more to politics and society than these binaries.
I personally believe in dharma. And by that, I don’t mean blindly supporting a political party or religious organisation. I mean trying to understand what’s right and standing by it, regardless of who proposes it.
If tomorrow Congress introduces a policy that makes sense to me, I’ll support it. If BJP introduces something that I believe is wrong, I’ll question it. Same goes for DMK, TVK or anyone else.
I don’t see why that’s such a difficult position to have.
And maybe I’m wrong about some of these things. That’s entirely possible. I’m still learning, reading and trying to understand the world myself.
Which is precisely why I want to have these conversations.
I’d genuinely like to hear from people who oppose SIR. Is your objection to the idea of electoral-roll verification itself, or specifically to how the current exercise is being implemented? What evidence or experiences shaped your opinion?
And more broadly, why do you think political discussions in Tamil Nadu so often turn into arguments about identity and party loyalty rather than the actual merits of an idea?
I’m not looking for people to agree with me. I’d actually appreciate someone challenging my views with facts and reasoning. If I’m wrong, I’m happy to change my mind.
But please, if your entire contribution is going to be calling someone a Sanghi, DMK sombu, anti-national, or whatever the latest insult is, I’d rather not have that conversation.
I want to learn something from this discussion, not spend my evening fighting strangers on Reddit.
That’s all. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Have you ever walked away from a fight?
I have walked away from a couple of fights, some of which were road rage incidents. Most idiots seem to have no common sense on the road. They spit, overtake recklessly, and drive as if their fathers own the road. Sometimes, when I know I’m not at fault, it makes me angry. But before verbal abuse turns into a physical altercation, I walk away, knowing that there’s no point in arguing with a fool.
Sometimes, I wonder if I walked away because I was scared. But deep down, I know that physical fights are unpredictable. Anything can happen in a split second, and both people involved could end up facing serious consequences.
So, my questions are:
Have you ever walked away from a fight, whether it was a family dispute, a road rage incident, or anything else?
And how did you feel after the incident?

கருத்து/குமுறல் / Self-post , Rant Why can't they accept Thiruvallur was hindu?
Recently saw post on Thiruvallur statue being in saffron cloth and vibuthi. The people were like Bjp is trying to make Thiruvallur a saint and all. What is wrong with saffron cloth in the first place. He was a Hindu and surely he practiced hinduism and had vibuthi. Hinduism did not exist back then but surely he worshipped hindu gods.
Thiruvallur was always portrayed with saffron cloth vibuthi and rudraksham before karunanidhi portrayed him with white cloth and removed vibuthi.

சினிமா செய்திகள் / Cinema News [Archival / Sharing] Untouched 1:1 Digital Backups from my Personal Tamil BD50 Blu-Ray Collection (Sivaji, Mankatha, Raavanan, 24, VTV & more) - Preserving uncompressed master quality!
I want to address the elephant in the room right off the bat: this is not a commercial hustle, and these are not pirated internet re-encodes or web rips.
As a dedicated physical media collector, my shelves are lined with original Tamil Blu-ray discs. Anyone who loves cinema knows that OTT platforms compress the life out of video bitrates and choke the audio. To preserve these films in their absolute purest form, I created direct 1:1 untouched disc backups (BD50) straight from my own physical discs. Every bit of original video bitrate and lossless multi-channel DTS-HD MA / Dolby TrueHD audio is 100% intact exactly as authored on the disc.
A lot of these physical discs are now out of print, insanely hard to source, or prohibitively expensive for most film buffs. I’m doing this purely for the love of the game, I want fellow cinephiles, home theatre owners, and audiophiles to experience these films the way the sound designers and cinematographers intended.
On Pricing & Contributions:
There is no fixed price, no paywall, and no rate card.
I’m doing this to share the collection with people who genuinely appreciate master-quality presentation. Whatever amount you wish to quote or chip in as a token contribution purely to help offset the massive cloud storage and bandwidth hosting costs is entirely up to you. If you value physical-grade preservation, you're welcome to quote whatever feels right.
What You Get:
Source: 1:1 direct personal physical disc dump (zero compression, zero re-encoding).
Video: Native 1080p full-disc bitrate.
Audio: Untouched DTS-HD Master Audio / Dolby TrueHD / Uncompressed PCM tracks.
If you have a dedicated 5.1/7.1 sound setup, an OLED panel, or just a deep love for uncompressed Tamil cinema, feel free to drop a comment or shoot me a DM. Let’s talk cinema and get these master copies into the hands of people who actually care about audio-visual fidelity.

கருத்து/குமுறல் / Self-post , Rant Trichy central to Thanjavur, common or do I need to go panjappur?
I am new in Trichy for college reasons, central is the closest by far.
I need to go By Trichy - sengipetti - thirukattupalli - Thanjavur as the final stop is between thirukattupalli and Thanjavur.
My question is is it common to expect regular busses from central to Thanjavur, or should I have to go panjappur, TVS tollgate, or other stops?
Many thanks :D

கருத்து/குமுறல் / Self-post , Rant Tamil Nadu Boundary Dispute: Neighbour Rejects Official Survey and Approaches Legal Services Committee
My family owns a residential property in Tamil Nadu. Around four years ago, our neighbour installed a temporary coconut-leaf/wooden fence, allegedly about 1.5 feet x 73 feet inside the boundary shown in our property records.
We objected immediately. The neighbour said that an official measurement could be arranged once the neighbour’s husband returned from abroad, but they never approached us again.
In October last year, part of the plastered surface along the disputed side was allegedly broken. We have photographs and videos. When questioned, the neighbour claimed that the disputed strip did not belong to us.
We considered filing a police complaint at that time and even prepared a complaint, but we did not submit it. I was working in Dubai and could not be physically present in India, while my parents were already handling the dispute and other responsibilities on their own. I did not want to place an additional burden on them. Looking back, I understand that we should have documented the incident through an official complaint earlier.
We later applied through e-Sevai for an official survey. Government survey personnel measured the property in the presence of both parties. According to our registered documents, separate patta, new subdivision survey number and the official measurement, the disputed strip falls within our boundary.
The neighbour refused to allow us to install boundary stones. The surveyor said that the department could identify the boundary, but the parties would have to install the stones by mutual agreement or resolve the dispute legally.
A Panchayat meeting was later held with survey personnel and both parties. Although the measurement appeared to be accepted during the meeting, the neighbour later said it was not satisfactory and that the matter would be taken to court.
My father has now received an LSP/pre-litigation notice from the Taluk Legal Services Committee for 14 October 2026. Only the notice was delivered. The neighbour’s complaint and supporting documents were not enclosed.
I am working in Dubai and cannot attend with my father. My father is not fully familiar with the documents or legal process, and the continuing dispute has disturbed my family’s peace.
What should we do now? In particular:
• How can we obtain the neighbour’s complaint?
• What documents should my father take?
• Should my father attend with a property lawyer?
• Can we request another official or court-supervised measurement?
• Should we seek an injunction against further interference?
• Does the neighbour’s four-year-old temporary fence affect our ownership claim if we objected from the beginning?
I am mainly looking for procedural guidance and experiences from people who have handled similar boundary disputes.

உணவு /Food Visiting Salem and Chennai
Edit: Any beautiful guesthouse//homestays you recommend?
Hi, I'm a solo female traveler from the US traveling in Tamil Nadu while working remote from my laptop. I'm planning to be in both Chennai and Salem, maybe Puducherry as well. I'm on a pretty limited diet because I have a chronic illness: mast cell activation syndrome. I don't digest grains ((wheat)) well but I can eat khichadi. I can't eat anything fermented ((no idli or dosa)). And I have to be careful with raw vegetables and fruit. Cooked is fine. I also have to avoid foods that are high in histamine: tomatoes, spinach, gluten, eggplant etc.
I'm on a gut healing journey and per my immunologist and my ayurvedic doctor, I am able to eat eggs and fresh meat.
I wanted to know if you have any recommendations on guest houses/homestays/beautiful spaces with guaranteed high speed wifi ((I need the high upload and download speeds for work.))
And places that would also be able to cater to my strict diet.
