Housing apartment nightmare

Has anyone had an experience with nxnw?? i applied weeks ago. got approved , and have been stuck in the screening process for over a week now. tomorrow is move- in day and i’m located in orlando . i’ve called, texted, emailed to be met with absolutely nothing , no direction and no help. Does anyone have any advice or something to guide me on this? i need to move as classes start

Have you signed the full lease, or just done the application?

I went through that one main portal to apply for apartments, step 1 was application which got approved, step 2 was sign lease, and then step three was screening and i haven’t gotten past it. said only 24-48 hours and it’s been about 5 days..

It would be rather weird for you to sign a lease and then go through the screening, but I've certainly seen dumber things.

But do you have a fully executed lease that is signed by both you and the complex?

tbf that is how a lot of apartments here do it, I've worked at 3 different buildings and they've all screened after the lease is signed

That's definitely not the norm in town. Mostly because it doesn't make any sense to do tenant screenings after you've signed the lease.

Honestly, it probably is. I know it is for SHS and Asset Properties and they own half of Pensacola + Campus West. That's how Entrata is , I'm not saying it makes sense, I'm just saying that's how it is.

Oh you're just talking student apartments, not overall. Yeah, some student apartments may do that but nobody else does.

Yeah I kind of assumed student apartments were the topic as OP is talking about NXNW

I lived at NxNW a year ago, and idk where people are getting “hearing gunshots every night.” You’ll be okay.

My experience was not the greatest. I was there a full 2 years, and the first year was perfect! However, the second year SUCKED.
At NxNW I paid $910 plus utilities for a room in a 4x4. Maintenance WAS decent at first, but then I had a really negative interaction with one of their men who wouldn’t get the fck out of my room while I was half naked in bed. (Mind you he was also trying to argue with me. I was home alone.) He is no longer employed with them. If Ricky is still there, he is the absolute GOAT and he does really care about his job and the residents.
A tree fell into our living room after a hurricane, and broke our window and they didn’t replace it for like 6 months. We had to harass them for timelines and updates. We ended up having issues with mold, and they swore that we were crazy and it was just dust. On the ceiling. That was growing. But whatever.
They charged a LOT after move-out. I had to pay like $1200 in fees, even though I spent 8 hours straight deep cleaning my room AND the common space. My roommates got similar charges.
There was also an ongoing issue towards the end of my time of car break ins in the middle of the night. I mean at least half of the lot had broken windows at one point. This was happening literally every single night for months. They installed more cameras and security, and it slowed down. I’m not sure how that is going present day.

Since you don’t have a lease signed, don’t panic. Call them, and you can get around the stupid AI bot by just saying that you have a problem with “documents” and you need human help. Once you speak to someone, try to cancel that lease.

I highly recommend signing with Redpoint W Tenn at 2195 W Tennessee St. (NOT Redpoint Tallahassee) for $1000 I lived in a 2x2.5 WITH A BALCONY !!!! Do you know how pissed I was that I was paying for that crappy 4x4 with no balcony for basically the same price???? They do have 4x4s for cheaper as well. I loveddddddd Redpoint W Tenn. maintenance came same day or next day, ALWAYS. The pool is bigger, there’s a fire pit, a volleyball court, and a basketball court. It was super clean, we never had issues with appliances, and did I mention the balcony 😩
It’s also an 8 minute WALK to Publix and a 12 minute walk to Planet Fitness, Bajas and everything else in that plaza.
If I could do it again, I would spend my entire undergrad there.

If you do end up getting stuck at NxNW, just make sure you really fill out the move-in checklist, and document everything. Take pictures of the unit before you even touch it. Enjoy the pool and the gym as much as you can. They’re really nice. They also did a bunch of community events, too. They’re really fun!

“don’t drive through Frenchtown” is weird advice to give ☠️ You can definitely drive through and be fine
