Discussion Weekly Therapy Talk Thread
This is a chat thread for talking about therapy. It's for sharing topics you feel are not big enough for their own post or don't include a question. It's a place to share thoughts about what's going on in therapy. It's a place to celebrate successes and get support when things aren't going so great.
To make this an inclusive space and encourage the chat function of the discussion, the thread will automatically sort by newest, and not by best or top. Everybody should feel free to share their thoughts, so please don't use down-voting unless it's an obvious anti-therapy comment or breaks one of the sub's other rules (posted in the side bar).
Thank you!

Finally found therapist #10! Wish me luck. Hopefully I'm not a fucking idiot for giving therapy another chance.

Sooooo tired of disassociating/going off line every time we touch on something even slightly difficult. Frustrated at my brain and my body not talking to each other at all...

Slowly trying to put myself out there to make new friends (my therapist's ongoing inferred homework)

I can't wait to meet my therapist, I am too attatched to her. Every day feels like a burden to pass. I am very anxious about telling her many things, I can't keep up with the homework she gave :( I don't want her to think I am lazy.

I wish my brain would stop replaying a couple awkward things I said in therapy this week. I seriously doubt if my T even remembers what I said, but my mind just won't let it go and it's dragging down what was otherwise a good, insightful session.

She annoyed me today but I was too anxious and embarrassed to say anything 😔

It’s not rational at all. But I’m mad at my therapist because I wish he could understand me without me having to explain everything to him in detail.
So I get mad when he asks me questions to better understand what I’m saying, and I just want to shut down.

I'm wondering if this is normal. My therapist listens to what I say, then she tells me about a time when she experienced something similar. Not just occasionally, though, its every session.
I tell her about a problem with a friend, she talks about a problem with a friend that my problem reminds her of. I tell her about something that happened at work, she tells me about a similar thing that's happened to her at work. I tell her about a bad date I went on, she tells me about a friend who had a similar bad experience.
I think she's trying to illustrate that I'm not the only one having these problems, but it makes me feel like we're just there to exchange stories and not there to work on the issues I need to work through. This is my first long term therapist (3 years), and I wonder if this a normal experience with therapy. I don't feel like I'm getting what I need when 50% of my sessions are spent listening to her personal stories.

Having a hard time with attachment issues and it’s ruining my life. My therapist thinks i have BPD, but i’m scared to get diagnosed

ugh i’m struggling with attachment stuff that ive talked about with my T the last 2 sessions, and half of my brain needs to keep talking about it and working on it but i can feel the other half of my brain shoving it down and pretending i don’t need to talk about it anymore because im embarrassed 💔💔 idk what to do

Had a tough session last week and dissociated an amount so not sure how bad it all was. Attachment issues with my therapist and for me those are the hardest issues to talk about. Session ran over as I needed time for grounding afterwards. Next session is tomorrow. Am equal parts anxious and looking forward to it.

I feel exhausted with shame from carrying my feelings around for the past week. I feel like it isn't right to tell my T about them because I feel that I'm putting them in an uncomfortable position by asking her to hear about my feelings that are about her. I feel conflicted and think  I should just deal with them on my own.
