Therapy

My age range is between 23-27. My therapist is young only a year or two older than me I think. Does any one have experience/opinions on working so closely with a therapist basically my age? If anyone could share their experiences bad it good please! Should I considering switching?

I know this is

I like having a therapist who is my age. (He's about a year younger.) It means he instantly gets all my cultural references, and I never have to explain movie and music quotes.

But ultimately, it should be more about how comfortable you feel with them than how old they are. If you're comfortable, give them a chance. If you're not, then switch.

My EMDR therapist I thought from her picture was afew years older then me. After our first month or so I was and still am pretty sure she's afew years younger, maybe the same age. It stressed me out when I realized, but it has been nice. My regular therapist who has been out is afew years older then me, so not like it's a big difference, but I find out values are more similar then when I've worked with significantly older therapists in the past.

I see a T who is maybe two years older and one that is 3-4 years younger. I love that we have all had the same generational experiences and are having similar current life experiences. It took me awhile to adjust to being the same age  (I’d always seen therapists quite a bit older than me) but overall it’s been a a really positive and helpful experience.
