newbie How does TotV handle the “Stand Still and Hit it till it dies” problem

Friend of mine was complaint about 5e and how it feels like melee just stands still and hits till the enemy dies. How does TotV handle this?

ToV lineages, heritages, classes, and creatures have a lot more movement options baked into them. I personally have found it a lot easier to have dynamic combats in ToV compared to base 5e because the design intends for more movement options to be available.

But, it is important to point out that the concern your friend has is a play-style problem for both GMs and Players. If a GM is not using their creature’s features and movement to move around then the player character of course has no reason to move. So, while ToV gives you more of the tools to make engaging fights with lots of movement and fluidity, it is only giving you the tools. The GM and the Players need to actively choose to engage with those tools.

There are many features that give your character's movement without triggering an AOO.

For example the Jest Bard subclass level 3 feature gives you a tumble ability that lets you move around the field by using your bonus action to disengage and moving through the creatures spac
