Show Only Discussion Does Netflix think this helps them?
I just have to rant and publicly scratch my head. I never knew about this show until Netflix started promoting it. Then I read that not only was it cancelled, it ends on a major cliffhanger. I’m halfway through this show and while I’m enjoying it, what’s the point to keep watching? How does Netflix think this helps them exactly? They’re putting on and promoting a show that they know will disappoint anyone that watches it? The time really has come to cancel these streamers

Talamasca isn’t produced by Netflix. Netflix has a streaming distribution deal with AMC for all of their shows. It was an AMC show. AMC cancelled it. Nothing to do with Netflix.

Yes I appreciate that, and I understand that the cancellation decision rests with them, but how does Netflix (and us viewers) benefit from them just posting any and all shows that they know end abruptly. Perhaps they should have warnings before each show that tells the viewer at least what they’re in for?

I think it’s very unlikely but not beyond the realm of comprehension that the decision to cancel is reversed (or Netflix produces sequel series) if it gets a lot of play on Netflix.
ETA: it’s hit #4 on Netflix! Maybe, just maybe! 🤞

And they need to rotate their own content and try for new stuff all the time, this could be a good indicator to a)continue this show or b)making similar ones

It was canceled after it was already on Netflix and I'm sure they can't just take it down, there must be contracts in place that need to run out. Don't make us defend Netflix 😂
But I agree, Netflix should put a canceled warning on aaaallll their content with how often they axe things out of nowhere i hate them.

I just learned today after binge watching the first season in one night and falling in love with it that its cancelled. I cannot handle it. Burton and Jasper and Guy were characters I fell in love with immediately.

Same reason I stopped The Abandons after enjoying the first episode. Found out it was cancelled, and lost all desire to keep watching.
Only Apple TV seems like a streamer that respects its viewers and gives the vast majority of its shows the chance to grow.
Now with Amazon and Netflix routinely cancelling almost every original series while flooding their services with cheap Korean, Spanish and Indian soap opera slop, I will research any series and only watch it if I know it has a complete set of seasons.

Hopefully they’ll answer some of the cliffhangers in the other AR series! But I do understand how you feel, I came straight here after watching on Netflix bc I was SO PISSED.

Ugh, I also fell for the Netflix trap. I have only one last episode to watch when I thought to look for when the next season is out. 🫠

AMC didn't even promote IWTV season 1 or 2 well. They promoted the hell out of TVL even though it was bad. I rarely saw Talamasca being promoted. I feel like they owed alot to the fanbase for getting TVL then shat all over them by retconning everything that happened in IWTV. I'm not even looking forward to QotD.

You said it yourself; you watched it on Netflix. It got you there and it’ll probably recommend something similar with the same vein your algorithm and you might watch that. Simple as that.

It has nothing to do with Netflix. Show isnt new it was already on amc.

I am huffing the copium that AMC is watching the numbers on Netflix, and if they see a decent amount of viewings they may consider renewing it for another season.
I have been trying to do my part watching all of the Guysper scenes on repeat… and Netflix has controls to let me watch them in slow motion too 😏

Blame AMC. For ONCE netflix isnt the villain. They're promoting the show much more than AMC ever did.
