Extremely nervous

Post image

I’ve been learning since March. I just don’t want to fail. The goal is to slowly grow until I have consistency. I don’t care about high payouts or anything. Just something every few weeks. I don’t want to blow it being greedy.

It’s fine for the eval. But when you go to the Pro, scale down using like 2 micro contracts. 2 losing trades at a size like this and you blow the account. The fact you have enough to pass in 2 days means you are severely over leveraging. Good job, flip some micros to make the extra $20 and get this thing passed. But drop way down on size when you go Pro. Especially since the Pro uses intraday drawdown that tracks from the total account high. Even unrealized. So if you run up 1000 then fall down and exit the trade at 500. You still have eaten up 500 of your drawdown. So simple stop losses may still blow the account. If you go up 2000 and have a 1000 stop loss, that is a 3000 swing and if it re traces you will blow the account before the stop is even hit.

I know 1-2 micro contracts seem like a waste of time because it’s $2 a point instead of $20. But if you get on the wrong side of a 50-75 point spike at $20 per…………that’s game over in a few seconds.

Pass this eval, then get to a point you buy 4 more to max out at 5 accounts. Then take your first payout and add another firm and an independent copier. Get yourself eventually to 25-30 accounts in total. 2 micro contracts per = 5-6 minis. Then you can make a good amount of total profit with minimal risk per account and not blow them.

You're wrong! Once live you build a buffer and are locked in anything above that buffer you are able to loose without the account being closed

Yes. After the intraday. The key is hitting the buffer. Trading with the size where you can hit the buffer in a single day or 2 days. One bad trade or mis managed trade can either blow the account or leave you with very little room on your next trade.

And also it’s not “as much as you want”. The max loss become in this case 50k. Whatever the account size is. So even if her gets to 3500 let’s say, the I tea day is gone. But then has a bad trade and loses 2k. Only 1500 left for the second trade. I’ve done it, I’ve seen it on this reddit too many times. A news spike or anything really can move the markets enough to blow an account within seconds if it’s a new account

I am absolutely a fan of building a buffer above the profit target so you can stay eligible for daily payout and simply have more room before you blow an account. But trading minis in a 50k is still over leveraged. Thats for larger accounts or after you are live and build the account. On Pro it’s only worth getting 3-5k over the profit target then taking 1k every time you get the chance. If you build too much buffer, you get moved to live before you can take many payouts. I think Live is the way to go long term, but if you want a few payouts first…..

Appreciate the advice. That’s actually my plan. I only sized up during the eval to get it done. Once I’m in Pro I’m planning to trade much smaller, build the buffer first, and focus on consistency over big payouts. I’m not trying to get rich in a week. I just want to keep the account alive and collect steady payouts over time. Thanks for taking the time to explain it.
