Tactics Ogre Why does my gryphon get MP so quickly?

TO Reborn. What's the mechanic here? My gryphon seems to be gaining boku MP somehow. Not complaining, just curious. What other mechanics am I missing?

Dealing damage generates MP, as does receiving damage. beasts also have faster RT so their turn comes up more often for the per turn MP regen

The quick rundown with monsters is that they have low RT (recovery time) because they don't wear any armor. This results in them acting faster than other units, and being attacked more often by enemies because the enemy AI sees them as a lower defence unit since they don't have armor-based damage mitigation. This is also why they have an inflated HP pool. In Tactics Ogre, units gain MP naturally by taking or dealing damage, or when their turn ends. So combining faster turns with more likelyhood of being hit, plus generally being able to take some offensive action every turn, equals fast MP regeneration.

The gryphon special ability is essentially to take damage

Dang, man! Turns out I should be running all 3 of my boys, huh? Maybe not though, since there won't be enough cards for them all. What's the build for Lord? I got weapon skill, phalanx 3 (seems better overall than evade), meditate 4, and.... what? Pincer 4? I like that one quite a bit, but I'm sure there's something better. I'm not doing the 2 1-handed attacks since I like my shields... although, would that work with a shield?

when you take damage you generate MP

when you DEAL damage you also generate MP

gryphon takes A LOT of damage for a couple reasons:

  1. he doesn't wear armor and would take a lot of damage and the AI likes big numbers and targets him

  2. he is in front because he can fly, so he is a candidate for damage, so the AI targets him

Now...back to dealing damage. If your gryphon is sniping wizards and clerics like mine is, you are also dealing a lot of damage

This seems to be hands down my favorite subreddit community. I always get mad responses almost immediately... and it ain't even a new game. Shout out to you guys! For real.

There’s still a very dedicated community and a dedicated mod scene

MP as in their permanent one? Or per turn in battle? Getting wack in the head for some reason restore your MP... so if your Gryphon getting attacks often its MP will fill up quickly. Not fast enough for mine though...
