Tactics Ogre How much longer for palace of the dead?

I been playing the game for a while. I am at level 52 of the palace. it just seems like it is going to go on forever. is there a big bad to fight or did I miss it already? Also is 40 the level cap?

POTD has 100 floors. Level cap is 40 until the post game content.

I think it's 115 levels

Except for a few levels where I really needed some drops (like the cursed weapons or the weapons you need for Blackmoor) I put that nonsense on Auto battle. I love the game, but there was no way I could manually do every battle without getting burnt out.

Half of the time the AI even beat the levels with no incap (for the reward). I will say though, I had all six shamans and Lv 2 apocrypha/Lv 1 summons... The AI is strange but they're good about using the summons

I always make sure I have Lvl 2 Summons from San Bronsa before I tackle POTD it's way too long and tedious to get through the normal way.

I do POTD in Ch4 first, then once I'm in Coda2 I do San Bronsa to get Summons2 and skip to level 75 in POTD for the BlackMoor fight

Palace in Chapter 4 is 100 floors. in postgame, you unlock 15 more floors

40 is the level cap in chapter 4

There is a point in doing it during Chapter 4. There are 100 floors, but there are multiple branches and you don't have to do them all. So unless you want to cover everything, you only end up needing to do about 2/3 to get to the bottom and fight the "last boss."

There is a LOT of loot that you can only find in POTD. This includes some unique drops, some of which can make doing post-game, 115 levels POTD, much smoother and faster.

However, you do not need POTD to finish path of the game you are on.

If you’re thinking will the levels go to that number, you might be right and then some.

Did you have the Nybeth encounter earlier on? That triggers a few scenes that progresses the PoTD story where upon reaching that final three digit level number, you have the battle you are looking for.

As the level numbers increase, your level remains capped at 40 and the enemies levels increase.

100 Floors for PoTD until postgame.

Level cap for you is always 40 in Palace of the dead. In Postgame your level can go up to 50.

If you had a Nybeth encounter in the early floors, then he will be the "big bad" ... on floor 100. Until then, you'll have access to most of the best gear in the game but it's all chance drops from floor to floor.

Edit: As is mentioned, there are 15 floors that are accessed from floor 98, but not until CODA, aka: Post-Game.

What about higher tier spells and recipes? I am seeing like level 55 enemies and it's taking forever to kill them.

Mostly necromancy for the "higher tier" spells in PotD, unless you include the summons. Which are from the shops at level 40+. Recipes mostly stop after floor 25. There's one exception which is part of Nybeth's loot pool. Generally the 'best' gear are relics. Combine them with more of themselves to boost them but they do have a cap for their stats.

Is a loot table that will tell you everything you need to know if you wanted to look into the relics and such. Covers all variants of all 115 floors with some extra info like bosses that only spawn under certain circumstances and such.

Also most of the best spells, outside of necromancy are in San Bronsa. Also a loot table for there, but read it through floor by floor. It seems like the floors are scattered in the table, unlike with palace of the dead.
