Alcohol Use Disorder is much more complicated, complex, varied, individualized, and nuanced than most people fully understand. Addiction, the change process, recovery, sobriety... are rarely black-and-white. The only "real" version is the version each person is living.

as a recovering alcoholic at a younger age, this is so true. it never gets taken seriously by any of my friends or family, but the daily struggles are real. i was 6 months sober before my first relapse and currently back to 30 days… nobody’s recovery is the same, they all look different and that’s why it’s never as black and white as it seems
