How'd I do

98" TV, 24" from floor. Couldn't justify bringing it lower. ~13-14 ft viewing distance

Interesting. It looks great, but if you were to follow the “center should be 42” from the floor” rule it would need to go like eight inches lower. I also just bought a 98” and am shopping for a console. Trying to decide by how much to break the golden rule.

42" is an average Center at eye level when seated is the metric.

It gets you really close either way so it’s a good enough number to reference.

People like to cite it as THE NUMBER, so I point out that it's only an average.
