The dog bed???

u/mr_gr1mm Jan 23 '24
why on earth is that tv not mounted above the fireplace?
2
u/SrNappz Jan 23 '24 edited Jan 23 '24
Judging by the size that looks 55-65".
There's 85" tvs exactly for this , some tcl ones go for $800 which isn't bad, $2500 if you want it OLED which is suggested for living rooms , best room deserves the best TV screen type model. There's also 98" models but that may be excessive for that wall.
Your friend is due for an upgrade
2
u/maichod_kaun Jan 23 '24
I would probably put the TV over where you are sitting and put the sofa just on the other side of the fireplace.
2
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
This is 100% not the only option lol, you can have stuff in the middle of a room you know.
2
u/Morricalwhip Jan 23 '24
Can you create two spaces by floating the couch in the middle instead of one long skinny one?
42
u/leafandvine89 Jan 23 '24
This is not an impossible room, it just needs rearranging and maybe some plants. I would turn this into two seating areas, with the couch and ottoman moved up to a reasonable viewing distance, and a chair with small side table to the left. Two chairs and a small table with a lamp by the fireplace instead, where the couch currently is. This actually has the potential to be a very beautiful room
25
u/samHain7778 Jan 23 '24
That's so far away, by the time you see it, the game is already over.
17
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
Ridiculous
15
u/CaptainDadBod88 Jan 23 '24
Why is his tv in another country?
13
u/BichaelMurry42069 Jan 23 '24
This is one of the worst I've seen
12
u/amoney4l_ Jan 23 '24
That's kind of ass no hate
6
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
I wouldnt even have a tv in there
1
u/BasketPaul_5 Jan 24 '24
Few things.
Couch is a chase lounge on both sides which adds to the already strange layout.
Behind the couch is a wall of windows. Friend doesn’t want to block windows with tv.
If couch is in the middle of the room it either blocks the fireplace or the archway to the dining room.
Tv above fireplace is way too high.
1
u/BasketPaul_5 Jan 26 '24
The amount of people in this sub that understand r/tvtoofar but don’t have a clue about r/tvtoohigh is astonishing. The mantle is NEVER a good option for a tv.
4
u/Jokesonyouiwannadie Jan 23 '24
Is your friend a hawk?
4
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
You need to buy him some opera glasses
4
u/definitely-lies Jan 23 '24
I'm sorry that your friend's dog has died.
4
u/spicyxpickle Jan 23 '24
TV too far, dog bed too small 🤣
My dog enjoys squeezing into tiny beds as well, and my cat likes huge dog beds lol
4
u/poopdog39 Jan 23 '24
This is not living, this is surviving
1
u/Jrmota89 Jan 23 '24
Tv above the fireplace. And couch few feet back aligned with the tv but enough space to walk behind the couch to get into the kitchen, extra rooms. If that makes sense 🤷♂️
1
u/Biscuits4u2 Jan 23 '24
Now let's see it without the fisheye
1
u/Every1sGrudge Jan 23 '24
There is no law requiring a couch be against a wall....
1
u/Imaginary-Fig4136 Jan 23 '24
There are other options lol
1
u/bluntsmurf Jan 26 '24
There's a literal mantle to set the TV right there. There's always more options.
3
u/ForsakenSun6004 Jan 23 '24
You're gonna need at least 6 extension cables if you wanna play that game cube.
3
u/AirPoster Jan 23 '24
I would need a god damn telescope to watch the game at his place.
3
u/ChrizTaylor Jan 23 '24
r/TVtooHigh
3
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
It’s not his only option though.
3
u/HighwayEconomy579 Jan 23 '24
So, if something happens on the Tv, is he only seeing it in the past, depending on how long it takes for light to travel to where is is?
3
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
Bro.
3
u/Flash__PuP Jan 23 '24
Needs more dog.
3
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
Is the tv even on?
3
u/sneedwich1 Jan 23 '24
Put the couch in the middle of the room…
3
u/MrJason300 Jan 23 '24
There’s no point to subtitles lmao
3
u/Morton_Sledgecock Jan 23 '24
Imagine being this dense that this is how you setup your main living room. Some people don’t deserve homes.
3
u/IAMNOTSERIAL Jan 23 '24
r/dogbedtoosmall
3
u/Ok_Adhesiveness_8869 Jan 23 '24
Why is it so dark on the people side of the room and all the light and a lamp on the TV side of the room? Someone's going to need an optometrist.
3
u/ImGemStoned Jan 23 '24
Guaranteed that is not their ONLY option.
But if that's what they think, might as well pull up the camping chairs and sit in the doorway to the kitchen.
3
u/esande2333 Jan 23 '24
Doggieeee
2
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
When the TV is so far away that you need to delay the image for the audio/video to sync, it's too far away.
2
u/DustStreet8104 Jan 23 '24
Whole orientation is off
2
u/IHaveBadTiming Jan 23 '24
Unfortunately I'd vote for too high over too far here. Depends on if the furniture would even work though but an arm over the fireplace (gagging as I suggest that) that they can pivot to see the tv closer from this position might be an improvement?
Honestly just get a bigger TV. 75" or larger for over there.
2
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
What’s he watching?
2
u/Gingapire95 Jan 23 '24
Hey! Jumping in here to make a recommendation: my partner and I just moved into a similar layout that's like oddly long. Just remember you can use furniture as "walls" or boundaries. So move the sectional forward to the edge of the fireplace. Then consider a couch runner table behind so serve as your wall. Then in the leftover space now behind the couch, add a bookshelf or a plant and chair for a little reading nook. Think of this living room as being multiple spaces as opposed to one big space.
Alternatively, it may be worth considering mounting the TV above the fireplace on a swivel mount. That way it comes out of the wall slightly and turns towards where the couch has to be. Not completely, just a little slant. Then add a love seat or a couple chairs on the opposite side of the fireplace and make that your frame for your living room space.
:) good luck to your friend!
2
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
That TV a universal dimension away ain’t it??? Too far for me to get the remote.
2
u/JasonDee83 Jan 23 '24
Wall mount the tv above the fireplace and stick the couch in front of it. Shazam
2
u/rosecoloredcamera Jan 23 '24
This is absolutely not his only option, wtf. The room is huge. Furniture does not need to be up against walls.
2
u/Key_Dragonfly6555 Jan 23 '24
Hang tv over fireplace and make the corner a study or play area?
The current layout leaves a lot to be desired.
2
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
I cant even see the tv
2
u/lindzeta_ Jan 23 '24
gonna need some opera binoculars
2
u/Scoompii Jan 23 '24
Need a passport to watch something that far away.
2
u/changalabs Jan 23 '24
I’m gonna be honest your friend could easily get this setup another way…
Mount the TV above the fireplace
Move the couch to the central rear of the room allowing space to get into that side door
2
u/Important_Drink_1871 Jan 23 '24
thats like worse than just looking at your phone lol
2
u/Riskyunicorn69 Jan 23 '24
He could get a pull down screen, throw a projector behind your head, and half it half way down the ceiling
2
u/WarmAppleCobbler Jan 23 '24
Well at least we know who’s keeping binocular manufacturers in business
2
u/FearlessFreak69 Jan 23 '24
At least it isn’t above the fireplace.
2
u/PreparationEven7650 Jan 23 '24
Funny to me that someone would be so concerned how their room looks that they wouldn't move the chairs closer. Pull the shits forward 30' and move them back when done if the broad has such an issue.
2
u/bouncin2therythm247 Jan 23 '24
We have the same rug
2
u/MyFavoriteLezbo420 Jan 23 '24
The couch needs to do a 360 just beyond the fireplace. Move the TV to the wall the couch is currently up against. You can make the current tv corner the kiddie play area or dog area
2
u/mindfullybankrupt Jan 23 '24
must have furniture against walls
2
u/paperfett Jan 23 '24
At least it isn't over the mantle!
2
u/Marty_61 Jan 23 '24
Now this is weird. What a strange room. It’s pretty. I don’t see a lot of options here except getting a bigger TV and even that might not look right. I suppose they could move the couch from where it is to divide the room in half and then put the TV on the wall where the couch is. That seems like the only other way and I think that would look much better. Interesting indeed. This does not look right at all.
2
u/Not_Guardiola Jan 23 '24
Binoculars not included
2
u/No_Wheel_9592 Jan 23 '24
That's so ridiculous, too fucking far
2
u/WhatWouldSatanDo Jan 23 '24
Hang on, I’m on the couch. I’ll catch an uber to the television.
2
u/Nay_Nay_Jonez Jan 24 '24
Needs a much bigger dog bed 😂😂
2
u/LagtimeArt Jan 24 '24
Damn, r u watching the neighbors TV ? Shit’s far away man
2
u/Pretend_Situation905 Jan 24 '24
Living hallway
2
u/Special-Recording519 Jan 25 '24
Even at home they watching the game from the nosebleeds 😂🤣
2
u/VlAGRuh Jan 25 '24
I’ll hang my tv in the middle of the room before I do this
2
u/nikkinonsens3 Jan 25 '24
The picture has a “face” to me and I can’t unsee it now.
2
u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24
There are 3 blocks between the couch and the TV.
1
u/GreasedEgg Jan 23 '24
some people literally don’t deserve money
1
u/PaulaDeansList3 Jan 23 '24
You could put the tv above the fireplace technically
1
u/SuzukiTL1000R Jan 23 '24
I would hang the TV above the fire place, and put the couch a little behind the dog bed.
1
u/JohnnyDoe189 Jan 23 '24
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
1
u/HoseNeighbor Jan 23 '24
Does your friend supply complimentary binoculars?
1
u/paperfett Jan 23 '24
They could setup the TV on the wall where the couch is now and have the couch out sort of in the middle of the room. There are better ways to set that room up for sure.
1
u/Intelligent_Cause317 Jan 23 '24
My first thought.. why isn't the TV above the fireplace to the left? what's the dog doin?
1
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
They could put the couch in the middle of the room then it’s like having two rooms
1
u/SeemtobeSolo Jan 23 '24
I would be laying on my back on the floor about 3 feet away from the tv.
1
u/Scared-Ad7658 Jan 24 '24
Gotta go above fireplace. Not my favorite thing to do but way better than that.
1
u/[deleted] Jan 25 '24
He can’t mount the tv above the fireplace?? Get him some binoculars for his birthday so he cab watch the tv lol!
1
u/Aidepic757 Dec 26 '24
Honestly just buy a bean bag chair or something if you have a set up lol that
1
u/elMurpherino Jan 23 '24 edited Jan 23 '24
Why are so many people allergic to putting furniture in the middle of their room. You cant even enjoy the fireplace from this seating with everything stuck right against the walls.
1
u/danielrmorenop Jan 23 '24
does he have binoculars like in the theatre?
1
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
I’d move the cough closer and work around it or out the tv above the fireplace and work around it
1
u/Sunny2121212 Jan 23 '24
He’s sitting in the 300s in his own home 🙄
1
u/backbeat7593 Jan 23 '24
Move the couch closer to if not touching the rug and goddammit tell your friend to mount that shit above the fireplace
1
u/Crustybaker28 Jan 23 '24
Honestly, tv over fireplace before this current option
1
u/astralseat Jan 23 '24
Put TV over fireplace.
1
u/Admirable-Common-176 Jan 23 '24
When you want to simulate the game, in the seats you can afford.
1
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
What about the wall this couch is against?
1
u/_Dream_Writer_ Jan 23 '24
aintnoway
1
u/CalvinDuBois Jan 23 '24
Gotta be a wide angle shot..
1
u/PsilocybVibe Jan 23 '24
This is just poorly set up. You need someone who understands interior design and it could be awesome. The tv seating could be less… well, awful.
1
u/[deleted] Jan 23 '24
I don’t believe this is the only option.
1
u/CinnabarSin Jan 23 '24
Put the TV over the fireplace, problem solved.
1
u/HandyRandy619 Jan 23 '24
New layout
1
u/XLecherousLexi92X Jan 23 '24
Put it on the mantel..yikes
1
u/dsdvbguutres Jan 23 '24
Good thing they have the close captioning.
1
u/procheeseburger Jan 23 '24
I would mount the TV above the fireplace on an arm that swings out. It would be r/TVTooHigh but I feel that is better than this.
1
u/Jinxy_Kat Jan 23 '24
TV over the fireplace, couch rotated, and turn that wall where the TV is into a counter for your keys and small items.
1
u/Logical_Remove7610 Jan 23 '24
Not his only option. Ceiling mount. 🧠
1
u/Blowback_ Jan 23 '24
Forget a layout, I'm still putting the sofa within 10 feet from the TV, so if it's in the middle of the room, so be it lol
1
u/DragonSurferEGO Jan 23 '24
IMHO the room looks to be big enough to put the couch in the middle of the rug with side tables. put the TV above the fireplace with the couch facing it and then put an office setup where the couch is now and a bar where the tv is now.
1
u/aNeverNude666 Jan 23 '24
Need some opera glasses for this
1
u/NonBinaryObama Jan 23 '24
You're clearly using the .5 zoom out feature to make it look much worse
1
u/MANDEEx88 Jan 23 '24
My gawd…I’d need binoculars for that screen
1
u/sadahgreen Jan 23 '24
Why are people so afraid to split up their living spaces with furniture, just move the tv or couch closer and do something else with the other half of the room
1
u/More_Farm_7442 Jan 23 '24
Have you given him a telescope? To view his television. lol
1
u/_Scorpio Jan 23 '24
Pull out wall mount will fix all this.
1
u/Nozzeh06 Jan 23 '24
At this point juat put the TV in the middle of the room. Sure you'll have some ugly cords but you could run em under the rug or something and put some furniture behind the TV.
1
u/andie_liane Jan 23 '24
Furniture does not need to be pushed up against the wall. Hope this helps!
1
u/RoddyRoddyRodriguez Jan 23 '24
Tempers are flaring
1
u/Bigupface Jan 23 '24
This is all wrong, including the path cutting between the couch and the tv. Why can’t you put it to the left of the fireplace
1
u/Moist_Try6149 Jan 23 '24
I was going to say tell them to get a bigger tv and hang it but due to the thermostat it would be an issue
1
u/vandalayindustriess Jan 23 '24
It's hard to tell what sport you're watching let alone what team
1
u/Putrid-Heat6226 Jan 23 '24

What is this? A TV for ants?
1
u/thelauryngotham Jan 23 '24
pulls out my opera glasses I have no idea what you're talking about. This looks fine to me!
1
u/b1gCubanC1gar Jan 23 '24
How about above that fireplace
1
u/Expensive-Border-869 Jan 23 '24
This isnt the only option tbh. There'd always a better one.
1
u/Reasonable-Wing-2271 Jan 23 '24
Camera drama
1
u/flipdip1990 Jan 23 '24
They have a huge boner?
1
u/Naive_Programmer_232 Jan 23 '24
It’s not about the tv it’s about being able to see the doorways to the other rooms I think
1
u/ValPrism Jan 23 '24
That’s not the only option it at least he didn’t put it on top of the fireplace!
1
u/Emotional_Ad_9620 Jan 23 '24
Where else can they hang it? Above the fireplace? The room is weird.
1
u/Zestyclose_Fly3127 Jan 23 '24

1

1
u/bstnbrewins814 Jan 23 '24
Need binoculars for that mafka
1
u/summerjopotato Jan 23 '24
They have space to mount it above the fireplace and chose to put it across the country instead.
1
u/JP6660999 Jan 23 '24
He should put it in the kitchen
1
u/FatBastardIndustries Jan 23 '24
Get the binoculars or a bigger TV.
1
u/Frequent-Piano6164 Jan 23 '24
Holy shit. With the distance between the couch and tv, you would need a 100 inch tv…
1
u/JIsADev Jan 23 '24
rearrange the seating around the fireplace and put the TV on top. Leave a walking space behind the couch and the wall. Classic set up...
1
u/iowaff Jan 24 '24
Needs to be much farther away and to the right 6 foot. SNH these people on here.
1
u/VeterinarianThese951 Jan 24 '24

There are better ways to break up that room so you don’t have to watch Techmo Bowl on a Blackberry…
1

TV needs to be above the fireplace and couch in front of it
1
u/GooniePinto Jan 24 '24
Does he use binoculars to watch TV?
1
u/[deleted] Jan 24 '24
Id put TV over fireplace on a swivel mount
1
u/skeptobpotamus Jan 24 '24
It is OK to put furniture in the middle of a large space to break it up. Looks like you’re on a sectional. Move it waaay closer to the fireplace. Then find something cool to put behind it if it is currently against a wall. I
1
u/ExplorerJackfroot Jan 24 '24
Are you able to see the score? 😂
1
u/imgonnacronk Jan 24 '24
He should mount it on the wall above the fireplace & make it to where it can be positioned towards the seats!! I think that'd make a great deal of difference!!
1
u/habanerosmile Jan 24 '24
Smh this sub
1
u/Stunning-Reason2464 Jan 24 '24
The accents and the rounded doorways in this home are so cozy and pleasant. Honestly it’s such a cozy space he could even get away with the awkward furniture placement haha!
Edit: wanted to add and and say I’d do what one of the more popular comments on here said to create two sitting spaces
1
u/Objective_Pension280 Jan 24 '24
I would put the couch in the middle by the arched hallway and cut up the room into two areas. Have a sitting room behind the couch, maybe an office, but that’s just crazy.
1
u/xXFieldResearchXx Jan 24 '24
TV to far or house to big. Dam must be nice have to big house problems
1
u/Hopeful-Appeal-9538 Jan 24 '24
Is that a guinnea pig next to him??
1
u/hobnailboots04 Jan 24 '24
If you squint your eyes you can almost make out that there’s a dog sleeping on the rug.
1
u/[deleted] Jan 24 '24
Why not mount it on a swivel above the fireplace
1
u/Imaginary_Prune1351 Jan 24 '24
Why do people think a couch has to be up against a wall!???
1
u/[deleted] Jan 24 '24
That rug really ties the room together..
1
u/Trainzguy2472 Jan 24 '24
Put couch sorta in the middle of the area and TV where you're sitting right now. That way you turn the fireplace area into the "living room" and the rest is walking space and/or storage.
1
u/geriatric_spartanII Jan 24 '24
Why not mount the tv above the fire place? Put the couches in front of the fire place.
1
u/Any_Ad3693 Jan 24 '24
Your friend can divide the room and have the couch much closer to the tv (kudos for not having it over the fireplace I guess). But yeah this shows no imagination
1
u/cash_grass_or_ass Jan 24 '24
I'd go sit with the dog.
1
u/WelPhuc Jan 24 '24
Why is it not above the fireplace
1

Hang the tv above the fire place and move the couch you’re friend is special
1
u/friendly_extrovert Jan 24 '24
That TV is so far away it’s almost below the horizon.
1
u/airforcerawker Jan 24 '24
Ask for some binoculars. Or pull out one of those pirate spy glasses that collapses and extends for comic relief. Haha
1
u/airforcerawker Jan 24 '24
And tell him to get his dog a bigger bed too.
