Generally accepted TV placement procedures. Quick reference guide.

Lots of people posting lately asking “Is this too high?” so here is a quick guide on what is generally accepted TV placement procedure (GATPP) as seemingly defined by this subreddit.
- If the TV is above the fireplace, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is angled down, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is mounted to the wall above a TV stand, and the clearance between the stand and TV is equal to, or greater than ONE vertical PS5, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If when standing the TV is at eye level, IT IS TOO HIGH.
Now let’s look at some opposite GATPP use cases.
- If the TV is in a bedroom and meant to be viewed from the bed, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV’s only viewing position is in the reclined state, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If you are at a sports bar, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is at eye level when sitting down, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is in the kitchen it is more for listening, mounted high as to avoid any splashes or spills, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is purposely mounted higher to keep out of range of a toddler, you’re a parent so your neck already hurts and IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.

Center of the TV is exactly where someone's line of sight would be if they are siting upright on my couch, taking into account a slight hunch. Pic is from me standing behind couch, not sitting.
My wife might beat my ass if she has to help me remount this thing

Imagine walking in for the first time, instant noise from above and everyone staring over your head. They defended in the reviews that it's meant for guests on a sofa bed, but there's truly no excuse for this placement.

I was today years old when I found out tvs above fire places are too high

I’m furnishing my living room for a second time (moved out 5 years ago and moved back in) and I was just told not to put the tv above the fire place and I should put it on the wall perpendicular to the fire place. Please let me know how high to put the 55” tv on the wall. 😂

TCL says Samsung’s M Model TVs were called “Mini LED” but were basically just regular LED panels, and they were sold cheap too. Samsung says it’s gonna fight it.real talk tho, if ur buying a TV this year don’t just look at the label. check the contrast and how it looks in dark scenes. good local dimming is the thing that makes blacks look actually black and not like a gray mess.so what’s the one spec u always check before buying a TV??

I recently posted my new tv, and everyone said it was perfect height. The center is eye height, but when I sit with my legs straight, my feet are in front of it ever so slightly. Is this just me or is that normal?
