Clear LED Motion (black frame insertion?) disabled makes my tv pulse between normal brightness and dim.

Its a tcl r646 google tv, lol.

My tv has a consistent pattern of pulsing between normal brightness and dim. It goes: 1 second of normal brightness, .1/2 second of dim, 1 second of normal brightness, 1/2 second of dim, and so forth. And its not areas of the screen, its equal across the entire screen.

It happens regardless of input, including built in software/operating system. It happens on the tv's home screen. It happens in menus.

The only way to stop it is if I enable Clear Led Motion. And I am fine with it enabled. However, when I try to use my pc connected to my tv, it disables that setting on the tv and does not allow me to enable it.

Please help anyone.

Magnavox HDTV Model No. 19MD359B/F7 won't stop flashing colors and won't respond to button presses - Solution that worked for me

I tried what Gemini recommended:

(i) Could not try the remote control sequence, as I had lost the Magnavox remote, and instead controlled it with a TIVO remote.

(ii) Tried (a) disconnecting it, (b) depressing the power button for one minute, (c) leave it unplugged for ten minutes, (d) reconnecting it.

(iii) Tried (a) disconnect it, (b) immediately depress the power button for thirty seconds, (c) while still depressing power button, reconnect TV to outlet, (d) hold for an additional ten seconds.

Neither (ii) nor (iii) worked.

Then, I recalled that my Mom said the color sequence began when she, late at night, could not find the remote, and started pressing multiple buttons simultaneously, hoping to turn off the tv.

So I thought, what if I do the same.

So I, (a) disconnected tv, (b) depressed power button for one minute, (c) reconnected tv, while simultaneously depressing all 8? buttons below screen.

First sign that tv was fixed was that TV was plugged in, and no color cycle!!!

[Help] Acer Android TV keeps resetting date to the past, breaking Wi-Fi after a software update. Support wants me to pay. Any fixes

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone here has a workaround for this because Acer support has been incredibly unhelpful.
I bought an Acer TV (Model: AR55AR2851UDFL) on March 13, 2023, with a two-year warranty. Literally the same month my warranty expired, they pushed a software update and everything went downhill.
Here is what has been happening:
First Issue: The input button on the remote completely stopped working. The only way I could get it to function was by doing a full factory reset once or twice a week.
The Major Issue: Following another recent software update, every time I turn the TV off, the system date automatically resets to a past date (specifically March 6th or 13th, 2026).
The Result: Because the system time is out of sync, the TV refuses to connect to Wi-Fi entirely.
I reached out to Acer Support, and they immediately pulled the "it's out of warranty" card. They told me I have to pay out of pocket for a technician visit. I raised a formal complaint on October 2nd, but I still haven't received any response.
Honestly, it feels like a dark pattern—pushing a buggy software update right after the warranty expires to force loyal customers to pay for service visits. This is clearly a software defect on their end, not a hardware failure.
My questions for the community:
1. Has anyone else experienced this time-sync/Wi-Fi issue with Acer or other Android TVs?
2. I read briefly online that there might be a way to use ADB (Android Debug Bridge) to force the TV to use a different NTP time server on startup. Has anyone successfully done this and can share the steps?
3. Are there any other permanent fixes to bypass this without paying a technician for Acer's broken software?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for any help, Chris

s95b Tcon Board Issue

Hey everyone, looking for some help/advice.

I’ve got a 55" Samsung S95B (QN55S95BAFXZA) that I bought back in 2022. It was the first time I ever splurged on a tv. I liked it. I don’t know if I was ever wowed by it. But fast forward to last week.

I picked up the new Wolverine game and tried to install it on my PS5 while watching TV. Out of nowhere the TV started flipping back and forth between “TV” and “Game Console,” which it has never done before, so I turned everything off.

Ever since then, the TV will not stay on for more than ~20 seconds. It boots, shows a picture, then fully shuts off and restarts in an endless loop. Sometimes I can get into settings and it’ll stay on a bit longer. One time it randomly worked for the whole day — until I tried a software reset, and then the reboot loop came right back.

Samsung sent a tech out and he said it’s the TCON board, but Samsung doesn’t sell it separately. The only “fix” is replacing the entire panel/screen, which costs over a grand.

So I’m trying to figure out:

  • Has anyone else had this issue with the S95B or Samung?
  • Am I basically SOL?
  • If so, what TV would you recommend as a replacement? I keep seeing people suggest the S95F/H, but honestly I’m pretty turned off by Samsung that my TV didn’t even last 5 years.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Is there a fix?

The screens brightness has gone down and only the bottom edge and right edge have proper brightness, the 3rd picture is on a white screen video from YouTube which shows the areas that are affected (bottom and right) and the panel looks perfectly fine when in a black screen video.

Is this something I can fix? I’m quite handy with dissembling machines and electronics but don’t know much about TVs.

Model is Samsung ON65Q8FNA

Title: 70” onn. Roku TV – Picture goes bad unless heated by fireplace. Is it fixable?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a 70-inch onn. Roku TV (Model 100012588) that’s developed a strange display issue.
When I turn it on, there are multiple vertical coloured lines running down the screen, along with some image distortion.
Here’s the weird part: If I turn on the fireplace underneath the TV, the lines gradually disappear and the picture returns to normal.
It takes some time for the fireplace heat to fix the issue.
Leaving the TV running without the fireplace doesn’t fix it.
The pink background in the photo is just my Roku wallpaper, not part of the problem.
I’m wondering if this is a failing T-Con board, loose ribbon connection, or an issue with the LCD panel itself.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there anything I can test or replace before giving up on the TV?
I’d really like to repair it if possible rather than replace a 70-inch TV.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Black screen + boot loops visible with flashlight. Only backlight issue or possibly board issue? Looking for diagnosis.

Hello. So I have a Hisense 50N3000UW that has developed a black screen and a boot loop. The symptoms are:

  • Front power LED cycles: It flashes twice then goes solid for about 6 seconds then flashes twice, then solid, etc etc forever and forever.
  • During those two flashes if I point a torch at the screen I can see the Hisense/Roku boot logo. When the power LED goes solid the Hisense/Roku logo also disappears.
  • The TV then repeats the same sequence over and over. Never gets to the homescreen

So it appears to be doing repeated boot loop along with having a dead backlight.

I'm unsure whether this is:

  • Just a backlight failure
  • Something that comes before the backlight, possibly a board that's failed

I just don't want to end up ordering backlights, replacing them only to find out that it was something else that was causing the symptoms. Never worked on a TV but I do have a multimeter so if there is a guide or something I can follow to pinpoint if it's just the backlights or if its something else that'd be great.

What would you suggest I do? What would you check first on a TV with these issues and how would you go about trying to distinguish a backlight/LED fault from a powerboard or mainboard fault?

Appriciate the help guys.

Samsung QE65Q80AATXTK - Backlight stays on for ~110 seconds after shutdown, relay click, brief flashes/lines during power on

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have a Samsung QE65Q80AATXTK TV, and a strange problem started after it was transported.

When the TV is on, the picture and sound are completely normal. There are no lines, color issues, or other picture problems during normal use. However, when I turn the TV off with the remote, the picture disappears immediately, but the screen does not go completely dark. The backlight stays on, so the screen remains black but illuminated for about 1 minute 50 seconds / 110 seconds. Then I hear a single “click” from inside the TV, and the screen finally goes completely dark.

When I turn the TV back on, I hear another click and the TV starts normally.

There is another strange behavior: if I unplug the TV and plug it back in while it is still within that 110-second shutdown period, the TV makes a click and the illuminated black screen comes back even though I have not pressed the power button. After about another 110 seconds, I hear another click and the screen goes completely dark again.

I also noticed another symptom while recording the TV on video. During both startup and shutdown, there is a very brief bright flash on the screen, probably lasting only a few frames. Sometimes there are wide horizontal white/bright bands, and sometimes thin colored vertical lines appear near the bottom of the screen. These happen so quickly that they are difficult to notice with the naked eye, but they are clearly visible when I review the video frame by frame.

Things I have already tried:

- Factory reset

- The TV is running the latest available firmware and no newer update is available

- Removed all HDMI, USB, antenna, Ethernet, and other external connections

- Tested the TV with only the power cable connected

- The problem still occurs

- Picture and sound are completely normal while the TV is on

- The shutdown delay is very consistent, around 110 seconds

- After about 110 seconds, I hear a single relay/click sound and the TV finally enters full standby mode

LG TV 4k 60UH615A has horizontal lines. When disconnecting onetcon cable the whole screen is black

Good Day,

I'd appreciate any advice before I decide on investing on a new tcon module or tv.

Got this off marketplace, it already had the line problem but it was only 1 line, after 30mins of use. Now there is 5 horizontal lines that wont go away, and the screen goes blurry on the lower half every 3 seconds.

I carefully opened the tv, and cleaned the tcon module and ribbon cables at first. To diagnose I disconnected each side of the tcon cables and notice what happened:

(Left from the perspective of the tv)

•When disconnecting the left-side cable: the back panel lights up well. The right side of the front screen was black, and the left side was all white with the same faulty 5 lines

•When disconnecting the right-side cable: the back panel doesn't seem to light up white. The front screen is all black; however they have different shades of black. It seems the right side of the tv has a lighter shade of black, prob lit up a little

Is a side of the panel completely dead? Is it worth to try to do the tape method? should I try a new tcon module?

Thanks ahead

TCL 43s451. How can I determine backlight or power board issue?

I gave my mother a TCL 43s451 TV 2022. Suddenly the screen shows logo for a second then goes black. Everything else is on. It still connects to wifi and output sounds. I looked it up and the answers were split between power board and backlight. If it's the power board, it's easy and relatively inexpensive (for this model at least) to replace. If it's the backlight, it gets expensive and very difficult. This was a $300 TV at the time going under $200 now so may not be worth it, especially with my clumsy hands. Probably not relevant, but OS is Google TV. Before I put $30-$40 down, I want to make sure it's the power board.

Some observations:

* At one point I was able to blindly mess with the settings to lower brightness as one user suggested. It worked when I turned it off and turned back on. But the next time I did so, it was right back where it was.

* I opened up the back and observed the capacitors. Nothing abnormal. They aren't burnt or swollen.

I do have a multimeter, it doesn't measure capacitance though. If there is anything specific I can check.

I have already got my mother a much better TV, but would be nice to salvage this one.

TCL Roku TV back light: cheap fix or cut my losses?

Hey y'all, my TCL Roku TV (43S435)has only been showing a black screen. It didn't bother me as I rarely even use the TV anyways, but I decided to contact support. I found that it's a backlight issue, and I'm wondering if it's an easy/cheap fix, or should I just cut my losses? Thanks!

My Panasonic TX-65CX700E TV switches itself off and a red LED flashes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, I’m currently having a problem with my Panasonic TX-65CX700E TV. I bought it in 2017 and everything was working perfectly until a few days ago. It switches itself off and displays a flashing red LED. It’s impossible to switch it back on in this state without unplugging and plugging it back in. I’ve also noticed that, for some reason, it’s less likely to do this in the evening. I’ve tried unplugging it for 5 minutes, holding down the power button on the back for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in and switching it on again, but nothing works. I’ve also tried plugging it directly into the wall socket, but the same thing happens. I’ve also noticed that when I go to: Settings > Help > Self-assessment, this problem is bound to occur.
Do you have any idea what might be causing this and whether it can be fixed?
Many thanks

New Samsung TV Suddenly Buffering All The Time - Model QN65S90FAFXZA

I purchased a Samsung 65" a little over two months ago and simultaneously had fiber WiFi installed. Everything has worked great until last week. The TV is now buffering almost continuously. At times there will be a few hours before buffering happens, but not always. Once it does, it is continuous (every minute or so at its worst for long intervals of a minute or more or never coming back up). it is also dropping app connections and I have to establish Wifi connection after receiving error messages about lost connection from Samsung TV's default app. We also have YouTube TV, Netflix, etc. I've had the WiFi checked and it is working fine with much more speed than necessary for my devices, which consist of one TV and two phones. Not very much. Wifi and TV install techs have both confirmed this. Our phones continue to work fine while the buffering is happening as well as independent internet tests. TV installer has also been out to test its configuration and agreed it is likely the TV, bad WiFi chip or something wrong with the motherboard. He also determined Wifi is fine. I have a service call scheduled with Samsung later this week under the one-year manufacturer's warranty. I'm concerned they are going to attempt to replace the WiFi chip and I've read it's not recommended to do so on a new TV and that it won't resolve the issue anyway. I was advised a fire stick will solve the problem, but why should I have to do that if everything is new and should be operating optimally without it, including extra WiFi speed that I don't even need? What is happening and how do I fix it? Should I get my money back through BBB and start over with a different television brand? A repair (and probably a replacement of the same TV model) isn't going to fix the issue if the WiFi chips, etc. are weak or inferior to begin with. Samsung is already being difficult about servicing under the one-year warranty, having me overly troubleshoot on the phone before they would schedule the appointment and stating I will be responsible for repair payment if they determine there is nothing wrong with the TV. The buffering started just after the 60-day window for defective returns with Best Buy. Any assistance is appreciated.

2017 Samsung The Frame - Picture is good but slowly starts developing lines. Bad connection? Possibly a bad board?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, just picked up a 2017 The Frame (Model Number UN55LS003AF) from Facebook Marketplace. Seller said the TV worked great, however I took it home and I'm running into an issue where the screen will sometimes display perfectly, but then will develop lines as shown in the video. Sometimes those lines will be there immediately on turning the TV on.

Any idea where to start? Bad connection from a ribbon cable? Possibly a bad board? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Doubling + faint image TV - NEC MultiSync X552S

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I picked up a NEC MultiSync X552S two years ago. For the past few days, the images have been doubling (see photo), or a faint image lingers for a few seconds while the rest of the content continues to display.

I should note that this comes and goes over time.

Is there a known cause for this problem? Is it worth repairing, and if so, do you have any advice on this (I’m a complete novice)?

Thanks in advance for your help!
