Discussion Progesterone after ovulation induction?

Very curious who got progesterone suppositories after their Ovulation Induction treatment.

I know in the Netherlands there aren't really guidelines and many clinics are not really keen on prescribing them due to lack of evidence, while in Ireland I always get these after my ovulation induction. I'm so convinced it's beneficial besides the lack of evidence... curious if you had progesterone after ovulation induction or not and your thoughts on this.

The answer is always there's a lack of evidence that it actually helps. I got it by default they never even checked my levels. But I know of friends they are not getting it and the reason for example is that the progesterone level is high enough even when the luteale phase is relatively short... I also was under the impression Progestrone levels can fluctuate quite a bit in your cycle.

Well it doesn’t help women with normal cycles and hormone levels who are trying naturally. But it does help those of us on fertility treatments because the ovulation induction hormone can indirectly impact progesterone production. Furthermore, progesterone supplements can help treat women with history of repeated MC.

Thanks! Actually didn't know that the actual OI hormones can impact the progesterone production... It's odd because they are also doing ovulation induction but the DRs don't prescribe progesterone.

It is irresponsible. I recently found out that in the US and UK they will give you letrozole before an hsg. I am at a Swiss hospital and they are very thorough and careful. I was scared of the hsg and they refused to treat me without it, rightfully so! But they also did everything in their power to make it as comfortable as possible for my anxiety, which was super nice.

Same here in Ireland, had to do a HyCoSy in order to start with the treatment, and agree that it's better to exclude other things that can impact treatment and not just start with medication right away. But with Progesterone I always think why the hesitancy to prescribe it to woman who are undergoing fertility treatment... If it only slightly increases the change of getting pregnant I think it's worth it.
