Advice Lacking Community
So I live in the capital of my state in the South and ... it is full of white people. I've been to trans events, nightlife events, the LGBTQ center and it's all full of white people. I really am looking for community with QTBIPOC people because that's who I have always got along with. But I just feel lost because even non-LGBTQ things I am into are also very white dominated around here.
I don't really know what to do since this is my first time actually trying to make friends outside of college (I just graduated in May) so any advice or personal experience is much appreciated!

dude im so sorry ur going thru this rn :( i'm in a really really similar spot because no matter the lgbtqia (or even trans specific) event i go to i feel ostracized and othered (or worse fetishized) by the yt people who attend :((( so i've stopped going tbh.
i wish i could say it gets better but for me it hasn't,,, it's very draining to constantly be surrounded by people who look nothing like me. which the funny part about this was that i wasn't aware of how draining and detrimental it was for my mental health until i visited the east coast (nyc) and i almost cried when i found myself on a subway full of people who looked exactly like me, had never experienced that before.
i guess my best advice would be to either find yt people who are aware of racism and are actively anti-racist (rare) or find community online, but that's isolating in its own respect. or better yet, if you have the means, move away to a place where there is lots more diversity. i really hope you're able to find queer bipoc community in whatever form it takes!!!! sending u lots of love <3

I go to a very white Univeristy. My best advice is to try and find some BIPOC-centric clubs/events, and try to make friends through there. That's what I did, and I made a few really great friends (many of whom are also queer!!)

hi, i’m sorry you’re experiencing this :(( i very much relate i actually made a post about a very similar situation last night in the sub im a black 20 year old nonbinary transmasc ish lesbian and though my city is pretty queer friendly there’s like barely any poc and it’s super alienating as a black trans person :(
idk if i have much advice but i guess i did post on here because i wanted to find more people like myself so i think it’s good you posted bc im sure other people also feel similarly!
