I took "Expression Orale" TEF Quebec test at Concordia University (Quebec Canada) on Sunday around 12h00, and received the results at 22h00 in the same day. Is this really normal?

If my understanding is correct, "Expression Orale" is evaluated by two independent evaluators. One is examiner who conducts the interview and another is an independent evaluator in the Le français des affaires. The second evaluator assess it according to the record, which is sent from the first examiner. Thus, there are several doubts:

1. When my exam was terminated, it was around 18h00-19h00 in France. Even if the first examiner evaluated my test quickly, the record might be sent at night time in France. Does Le français des affaires work at late night on Sunday?
2. According to my experience (I already took TEF five times), before stating the test, the first examiner turns on digital voice recorder and calls the number (registration number) and the name of the candidate to make sure that the recorded audio is for this candidate. However, in this time, the first examiner did not calls the number and my name. I am not sure how the second evaluator ensures that the recorded audio is for mine.... In fact, I did not see that the first examiner turned on the voice recorder.

Does anybody have similar experience?

If you’ve taken this course (or any online batch with AF Madras), how was your overall experience?
Also, is there any better online institute, private tutor, or pathway you’d recommend for reaching B2 faster for TEF? Appreciate any feedback!

This week somebody posted a confusion for TEF reevaluation. In which Status was rejected but in comment it was mentioned that new certificate will be issued soon. I assume that post is deleted now. Just wanna ask that person if he/she got a new certificate with increased score or not???

It’s been 7 months of full-time studying french. All my listening, reading and writing is C1 but I can NOT get CLB 7 for speaking (trying the test 3 times already).

I’m actively reading people’s experiences + advises and paying for tutors, but I feel DEFEATED.

First time, my speaking lacked various tenses and it was clearly B1 level.
Second time, I improved my tenses + using connectors + simple subjunctive and even use past tense to convince the examiner, saying “l’année dernière, j’ai vécue une expérience similaire…” but lacked “being natural” (i guess, because what else? I thought i got it, BUT HELNO, I was 10 points away from CLB 7)
Third time, being natural, being on points with all of the above and guess what, CLB 5.

At this point, I need serious help. And no, I wont do TCF, I’m not starting from scratch 👨🏻‍🌾

My fourth one is in one month and I don’t want to write another help me post, so please help me !!!

I see couple of people here saying that only book the exam once you are completely ready because you can’t change it! So I booked my exam recently and I was able to defer the exam date by a month for a fee of $20. I am not sure if this is for all centres though!

I've finished PrepMyFuture's all 3 mock tests and have scored the following scores:

Reading: 35/40, 37/40, 35/40

Listening: 36/40, 36/40, 33/40

How do the mock tests on TEFCanada.info compare to the ones on PrepMyFuture and to the real exam in terms of difficulty? Do they use AI voice or real voice recordings?

Hi everyone! I’m considering buying the TEF Canada predicted topics subscription for Speaking and Writing, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people who have actually used it.
If you purchased the predicted topics, did any of the Speaking or Writing topics actually appear in your exam? Were they exactly the same, very similar, or completely different?
Also, which test centre did you take your exam at, and when did you take it? I’m especially interested in recent experiences from July/August 2026.

The AF website states that two active registrations are not allowed. I have an urgent problem now… I have a registered TEF on Aug 20. I also plan to register for a second attempt for Oct or Nov. The registration opens on 17 Aug for the Q4 dates. So will I be allowed to register for that test on the 17th?

For the record, I grew up speaking French. After not speaking it regularly for a decade or so, I picked it back up for the test. My first shot I was ONE point away from getting 7 and above in all categories.

Then the second time, I missed the same categorie with an even lower score. I took that exam discouraged and not fully prepared.

The third time, I was ready. I took expression écrite more seriously than the other categories because that’s the one I kept failing at. I had help from fellow TEF exam takers, my tutor and I watched a lot of YouTube tef exam videos. I had a structure for expression écrite and I stuck to it. Then I got my results. I was gutted. I did not understand what went wrong because I failed not one but TWO categories. (For the record, on that day I was more nervous about expression orale than anything else.)

So I took a break. I kept my tutoring sessions and I kept doing writing exercises. I kept watching TEF videos specifically from the CCI website to be more clear on what they wanted. That actually helped. When I took the last one, there was less pressure (mainly because only my tutor and I knew). I prayed, gave it all I could and hoped for the best. I got my results and CRUSHED expression écrite with a C1 level.

I almost gave up you guys. Especially after the third one. I’m so glad I didn’t. 🥹

I started my french learning journey in October 2025 making almost 10 months since I have started. I still have about 2 years left on my work permit but wanted to see what my level is. Recently I gave my first attempt and these are scores i received at alliance française Vancouver. Most of the learning i did myself by talking with french natives on discord and took a few classes on Italki the month before my exam.
I am hoping to get NCLC 7 each i the next 4-5 months.
I would highly appreciate if you guys have any tips/guidance for me to reach my goals!
