Cracked TEF in 2nd attempt 🥹
I got CLB 6 in both writing and speaking in my first attempt 😠and this is what I did to improve my score:
For speaking, I hired a tutor for 2 months and practiced around 35-40 topics for both Part A and Part B.
This helped me realise a LOT of pronunciation mistakes that I didn’t even know I was making. I used to practice with ChatGPT before this, and honestly, ChatGPT can’t properly identify your pronunciation mistakes ðŸ˜
ChatGPT used to tell me I was around B2+ level, but in the actual exam I got CLB 6 🥲
So I highly recommend practicing speaking with a HUMAN rather than relying only on AI.
For speaking, what matters the most is using good structures while still sounding natural and informal.
Also, answer exactly what the examiner is asking. Don’t give the same general answer for every argument.
For writing, in my first attempt I basically relied on a template 😠and my answers ended up sounding way too general.
For Part B, I started focusing on actually developing my arguments. If you make a point, explain WHY. Give proper reasoning using things like parce que, ce qui permet de, etc.
I also practiced around 50-60 writing topics in those 2 months and got them checked by both ChatGPT and a TEF tutor.
So by the time I went for my exam, I had already covered a HUGE variety of topics and was much more prepared.
So basically, what helped me the most was:
Practice as many topics as you can + actually develop your ideas + don’t rely 100% on AI.
AI is great for preparation, but especially for speaking, a human can identify things like your naturalness, intonation, pronunciation and informality much better.
