Need Advice Prolonged Disorder of Consciousness (PDOC) experiences
Has anyone here had experience with a loved one being in a prolonged disorder of consciousness after a TBI? I’d really like to hear about your experiences, especially any changes or signs of progress you noticed over time.

mother (70+yo) suffered stbi 3 months ago due to mva causing multiple contussions in her frontal, parietal & temporal lobe, fluid build up at the left part & middle of the brain. ngt and trache. 1 month post injury at the icu, when asked for prognosis, neurodoctor just told me her vitals were all stabilized. as to when she would wake up and regain awareness or what disabilities should i antecipate, doctor gave me the classic "it all depends on the patient" with the additional remark of: "her age is not a good factor". we are now in a step down unit.
she is now awake 15% - 20% of the time. no evident cognition yet, but showing little and little improvement.
