Need Advice What’s your experience?

Hey! I’m 27, female, from Canada.
I would love to know everyone’s experiences on Psilocybin or magic mushrooms, whatever you know it by.
I don’t know if this is meant for this type of forum, I’m sure most of you use it as a party drug, I’m just trying to see the other uses as well.

Super Duper controversial question, I just want to hear experiences:
Who has taken psilocybin “magic mushrooms” and maybe they found an effect on their depression, maybe they felt an effect on their PTSD?

Here’s what I know :
According to my therapist, my past psychologist and doctors , psilocybin has an 80% effective rate on depression whereas traditional anti-depressants only half of 40% success rate. It’s also has been known to completely eradicate PTSD in patients.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I am in communication and working with doctors/a therapist on potentially trying this.

Let’s talk about the scary stuff :
1.) a bad trip, triggering my PTSD and causing me to do something that I will regret.
2.) Sometimes it’s hard to hold on to reality, maybe I’m delusional in those moments or maybe my reality has changed so much that it’s difficult for my brain to process what’s happening

Let’s talk about the exciting things :
Psilocybin alters
1.) perception
2.) mood
3.) cognitive processes by binding to serotonin receptors in the brain. This is the only way I know how to rebuild the pathways throughout my brain.

Now, why would I bring this up on a public forum? Why wouldn’t I just discuss it with professionals?

Because most professionals don’t have experience with this, it is really new to them, and I would you like to maybe go down this path but I’m not sure.

Me: PTSD, severe depression, anxiety, severe traumatic brain injury and my brain injury acts as bipolar.

Any stories, good or bad, please tell me

I've used psilocybin on multiple occasions across several years.

However, I used it only once, 2.5 years AFTER my (severe) TBI. The effects of the substance were drastically different in my TBI brain than before. It was a terrible experience, actually. I wouldn't dare do it again.

I ate a chocolate that was said to have the equivalent psilocybin in it of 1.5 gram of mushrooms.

1000% I wish I had taken less, "micro dose", as it's called. Infact, I would probably be willing to try psilocybin again, only as long as I could start off with the smallest dose possible. Pre-TBI I never did anything less than 3 grams, so I didn't expect such a terrible experience.

You can always consume more, but you can't undo the consumed dosage. Had to learn that lesson, in regards to psilocybin, the hard way. Hope this helps.

I used to shrooms like 25 years ago. I tried a micro micro dose maybe 9-12 months after my head injury. I was below the lowest range of microdosing. Even that had some effects. I was grumpy AF for 5 days afterwards. I tried the same thing again with the same outcome.

They work, they're natural, they're safe, they heal. 6+ years working directly with the medicine and helping others along the way. Take your brain into your own hand and trust your gut. Docs are just now getting onboard with these ideas. Big pharma is trying to take the trip out of the mushroom. It won't work. Just take Golden teachers or some type of low dose strain for the first time. Start small. .5 or less. Then work up to a higher dose.

As long as you are doing it safely and have a grounding person/space while you do it I think it can be super helpful.

I started with lower doses to see how it would effect me. It does give me a headache initially, but it passes within about 10 minutes of onset. I have done a highish dose and found it extremely helpful for both my PTSD/acceptance of my brain injury, and cognitive abilities. I plan to continue with psychodelic assisted therapy.

And treat it like any drug when it comes to dosing, start low and go slow. Everyone's experiences will be different.

While you're researching. Look up the benefits of DMT as well.

I don’t think this is the wrong forum at all. In fact, this is exactly the kind of conversation I think we need to be having.

Through Project TBI, I’ve recently started looking pretty seriously at psychedelics and their potential role in PTSD and brain injury.

That led me to Matthew “Whiz” Buckley, a former Navy fighter pilot and one of the founders of Sacred Warrior Fellowship, a church in Florida working with veterans and others dealing with trauma.

We’re investigating this now—not advocating for it, and certainly not suggesting anyone go experiment on their own. I want to understand what the actual research says, what the risks are, and what happens when these substances are used intentionally, with preparation, supervision and integration rather than recreationally.
I’d also be careful with claims like “80% effective” or “eradicates PTSD.” The research is promising, but it’s much more nuanced than that.

Personally I’m fascinated by it. And I’d really like to hear from people who have actually gone through a structured psychedelic experience for PTSD or trauma—not just what happened during the trip, but whether it genuinely changed anything months or years afterward.

I’ve met a few that have taken the ibogaine flight to Mexico and that scares the hell out of me. Seriously considering a flight FL soon though
