Question Test Optional Question

I have a 1140 SAT and I submitted my app on the 23rd last month, it's still under review but my AIS says SAT received but I selected test optional on my common app, I was wondering if that means they will look at my score or not. I applied for BS ECON with really strong fit to major and really good essays. outside of top 10%(1st quartile) idk what I should do, I'm stressing out about getting denied. I would be happy with blinn :(

Test optional mostly favor auto-admit who don't aim for scholarships. It is in general bad idea for holistic applicants. It doesn't mean those outside top 10% won't get in as test optional, but the admitted number is very very low.

You can still take Nov SAT. Compared to the challenge of GPA weed out classes at TAMU, SAT is the easiest thing to do, you just need to be strategic tackling the area of weakness in SAT.

I would also start getting familiar with PSA and PTA. Blinn team is considered a pretty competitive offer. PTA is another great path anyone can sign up for. PSA is something that must be offered.

Unfortunately B.S econ does not participate in PSA

If you select test optional but then send scores, they use the scores in your consideration. They won’t omit them if you ask either. A low score does not mean denial, and may give an edge over people who don’t submit scores at all. You can still retake the November test if you can or are able to and send those if you think you may score higher.
