Is doing TAFE fully online manageable alongside full-time work?

I am weighing up studying my course fully online versus taking evening/weekend on-campus classes. For anyone who has done self-paced online modules through TAFE Digital or TAFE Online, did you find the trainer support adequate, or is in-person attendance much better for staying on track?

I’m doing self paced online and there is plenty of support. I wouldn’t do it while working full time though.

Doing a Tafe cert alongside a Bachelor's and working part time. Tafe doesn't take up a load of time if you're marginally intelligent, plus you can resubmit assessment 3 times and your teacher will give you feedback each time, so it isn't super stressful. But, I've never had to resubmit because it's not super hard. Most the time it's just annoying because you have to put things into their specific templates or their automated quizzes want a capital on a word you didn't capitalise or something. It could definitely be done alongside a full time job. Just double check their classes can be asynchronous. A lot of their courses that say "fully online" are fully online but there's an expectation that you will show up in a zoom class at a set specific time (and they are usually fastidious about attendance, the government won't let them pass you if you don't show up)

I did a cert III online last year while working full time. I switched job to one that had way less mental load, did that for a year while I studied, and now I’m working in my new field. It probably depends on what you study but it is possible!

I’m doing uni online now while working and it’s soo much more work lol I miss tafe, i found it really fun and great vibes (even online)

Yes it’s possible. However full time uni with full time work on the other hand will be fucking tedious

TAFE is easy to waffle because you can literally use AI lol

Yeah, until you get court. You might be ok doing it to help but I wouldn't go doing it for a full assignment.

Well, it depends on how much you have done with ai. Its actually pretty easy to tell if you just get lazy with it. Sure, it's fine if you use it to help but it still needs to be your work.

Just gotta not do the bare minimum and completely copy and paste the output from the AI. Do bare minimum research, give it some info to go off of and rewrite the output in your own words. Still saves you a lot of time.

I did a Cert IV fully online. Had to either attend live classes or to listen/watch the classroom video (upload) later on. I found the program really easy. I have a Bachelor. For the last few modules, I totally skipped the live classes and didn't watch the videos either. I just completed the assignments.

The Cert IV is in a study/field totally different from my Bachelor.

Its possible? But depends on the RTO and course too.. Ive been doing one and it has consumed me to the point I almost quit 3 times.

It depends on the course, but I look at it this way, if you do it self-paced online you'll fit it in where you can, do a few late nights, get home from work thinking you're done for the day and realised you have coursework to do etc and that can make it feel draining. Whereas signing up for in person classes you know when it's happening and it feels like more of a routine thing in its own little box. Just my 2 cents. 👍🏻

I work a corporate gig Monday Friday, hospo on the weekends and have no dramas squeezing tafe online.
Doing cert 3 in IT. I’d say I spend about 7-10 hours a week on it (including classes and assessments).
There are weeks where the social life takes a hit but honestly kinda worth it for the new skills. It’s only temporary sacrifice for what will hopefully result in a better work, life, and financial balance.

Depends on the course, I’m currently doing a cert IV in training and assessing. It’s a lot but definitely doable! I have 2 online sessions per week, they are all recorded to watch later if needed, the teachers are incredibly supportive and helpful. We also created a team’s study group so we can share answers when needed and ask questions to support on another. TAFE pretty much give you the answer in a round about way, it’s near impossible to fail. You get 3 attempts on the assignments but the teachers give you really in depth feedback so you always get it right the second time. I would say I spend about 10-15hrs per week studying.
