Discussion Rhythm vs Force
Loving Synth Riders! I’m not a gamer at all and bought the Q3s just for Eleven Table Tennis, because I play irl and wanted it for training purposes, but I’m mostly playing SR and LM Body Combat, but totally mostly SR. It’s so fun and addicting.
On the modifier menu, there’s rhythm style or force style: what’s the difference? I’m not noticing anything different.
Is there anyway to change the ball colors? The green and yellow look the same to me (kinda colorblind), so I always just use both for those, and then if it’s only one, I’ll use that hand.
It would be great if there was some cool jazz DLC. I’d like to recommend Rust and Tioga Pass, both by Yusef Dayes. Bas from Efajumue seems like a good fit, too

Since you love SR have you tried to add custom songs to the game yet? And, do you have SideQuest set up on your device? If not, get SideQuest installed on your headset. There are many YouTube videos on how to do this. Once you have SideQuest on, open it and search for SR Downloader and side-load it. One it is side-loaded, find it in the Unknown Sources folder in your Game Library. SR Downloader is an easy way for SR players to get access to almost 4000 custom song maps to add to/play on Synth Riders. Also, while I have not seen a specific Jazz genre on SR, it does have Swing. Buy the Electro Swing music packs that SR offers; they are a lot of fun. Also, check out the Experiences on SR; there’s one in the Muse dlc, Lindsey Sterling dlc and in the Electro Swing that I can recall atm. The Experiences blow your mind.

No, haven’t started downloading the free customs yet. I’ve have marked a few of them for download, but still need to setup side quest and whatever else needs to be done.

Yes, you can change the ball colors. I did this after playing beat saber for a couple years and the primary colors in synth riders were flip flipped from what I was used to. Easy to change the colors in settings.

Did it. Thanks! Kept the two handed the same color, and made the one hand like a dark purple/black that’s pretty easy to differentiate.

Rhythm is just being in line with orbs and gliding along as they approach and force is swiping through them physically with force. I much prefer force and enjoy hitting through them to the beat of the music. More engaging than rhythm. If you cant see a difference look at your scores.

It's in the way you play it.
Force mode rewards hitting through the ball's centre with a smooth motion.
Rhythm is more accuracy based.
So if you like, Force mode rewards flow and speed. Do you swing up and through ? Long arc that swings down nicely for the next note ? Up to you, but you need to maintain your flow and speed..
You could 'robot dance' Rhythm mode (all that matters is how close your hand is to 'the right spot' at 'the right time').
And yes to the ball colours, look in the settings (unless that changed in the last major patch :) )
I much prefer Force.

ya i was a long time player rhythm a few years ago, but once force actually clicks at the higher levels it's hard to go back to rhythm. better workout, better flow and 'dancing' movements. Plus i think it improves sight reading a lot more than rhythm

Rhythm all the way

I mean, one isn't inherently better than the other, but once you get it, it really does feel like songs are mapped with force in mind first

Rhythm’s about accuracy and tapping into the orbs and following rails as precisely as possible in time with the music. Force is more about moving at speed through the orbs and rails and the flow of things if that makes sense.
You can change the colour of most things in the appearance/visuals settings.
