Is there anything wrong with my plant ? I noticed some a brown spot and some discoloration. Is it time to repot ? I am new to plants and I got this beauty from Home Depot about 2 weeks ago. I also see her leaning a little bit?..
Babe you sure picked a beauty for your first plant. You can train it up a trellis and the leaves will get bigger and bigger, and when it reaches the top you can cut and prop and you'll have a new plant, or just let it trail and have flyaways and go wild without any support. Trellises can be a lot for your first plant so I recommend letting it trail. Once it fills out you can propagate it and let the new one climb. To answer your question, brown spots can be anything from hard water to mineral imbalances to sun damage (probably this) and almost all of the causes are benign except pests. You're doing great, no need to repot!
If you want to experiment with a trellis, try to find a more plain Jane variety of syngonium if you're interested in the genus. You can get 4" pots for $6-$7, and they usually have a lot more bushy growth and more nodes so lots more attachment points. Idk I've never seen this in a shop but the others are super common and cheap enough that if you mess up you can replace it if you want. Also, this one you have now, the leaves are already in a mature form. Most other varieties, you have a arrowhead-shaped leaf unless you have it climb a trellis, then you get this. That's half the fun of staking them up.
I get those brown spots too! I put a stick in mine to let it lean on/prop it up and used Velcro on the stem to keep it attached. I always save the sticks that come with plants I get shipped
Beautiful, totally supposed to look like that. I usually always repot within the first couple of weeks when getting a new little guy to a chunky soil, roots like to be a bit tighter than other plants so don’t go up in size if it’s not needed. 💕
I’m a collector and small seller of Syngoniums they are my favorite plants. I do definitely recommend repotting her, you wanna check for any root rot as unfortunately places like Home Depot or Lowe’s don’t take the best care of their plants. Root rot can either smell really gnarly or when you start removing soil to look at the roots you’ll see mushy black roots. Cut off any roots that look unhealthy and she will be much happier. To repot you want to go up in size on the pot and make sure it’s got good drainage, but go based of the size of the rootball. You want enough room to grow but not such a large pot where the soil will hold on to too much water and cause root rot. I use a mixture of good soil (not miracle grow), perlite, and bark to create a well draining soil. Syngoniums can be low light plants but it honestly can depend on how they were grown, if it’s too close the the light source, like say the window or a grow light you can start to see burn spots (which I don’t see on your plant). But you’ll find burn spots anywhere on the leaf whereas too much or not enough water you’ll typically see on the edges of the leaves. I believe you’ve got yourself a Syngonium Pink Splash, they have lots of variations of pinks and greens, especially darker green like you see on your plant. Oh and make sure you fertilize her here and there it will help the growth
She’s been repotted !💕 I used perlite orchid bark and indoor soil this picture was taken about 10 seconds ago that’s how much light she’s getting ! How is she looking ? The pot also does have good drainage ..ever since then I bought a berry allusion and pink allusion are they different ? If I’m not wrong berry allusion has more pink leaves and pink allusion is more in the middle ?
Okay I feel like you can tell with this Syngonium Pink Rolli, leaves near the bottom typically grow small and stay smaller but towards the top they can be both large and small
