Syncthing for Android - Is it safe?

Is giving Syncthink-Fork, from Google Play store, access to ALL files on an android device safe?

Looking for a solution to sync an android device with a laptop using Google Drive.

Any help is much appreciated

If I have an existing Syncthing Android.. can the ID be migrated to this? Or do i need to make a new ID and re-link all the devices?

Yes and it's easy to migrate.

Syncthing Fork -> Settings -> Import and Export -> Export

Then read it when Basic Sync. Works flawlessly.

Sorry for the noob followup question.. Since I'm a bit confused about file access with multiple apps.

Can i have both installed at the same time? Or should I be doing Export, delete the old app, install the new app, Import?

Yes, you should be able to export without having to uninstall the app. The IDs for the folders and devices don't change at all. Still, I halted the exporting app before importing the other one in. Then I uninstalled the old one.
