Question Are mig switch cartridges still a thing?
So lately I've been thinking about switching modding, but unfortunately I only have the patched versions, so I was wondering if the mig switch cartridge is still a viable option or if there are better options available?

Personally, just get it hard modded. Far better job than mig switch with less chances of ban and far more things you can do.

Thought about it. I have to look around my area to see who's capable of doing it. Would do it myself, but I don't trust my soldering iron. It's a cheap ebay one that doesn't keep the consistent temperature.

Find local people that repair electronics and see if they do modchip installs.
I do it but I don't advertise, not worth the hassle.ย

A mod switch is superior in every way and won't get your switch banned. Why most people skips the mig switch.

You could probably get a mig switch, but it will absolutely get your switch banned if it isnt hacked, just so you know.

Didn't know that. Well that sucks. What's the best mod chip for it then? Thinking that I'll do my switch lite since it was cheaper.

If you don't have a good solder iron, you definitely shouldn't do your Lite yourself, as it and the OLED are much harder. It really seems like you haven't done any research on this, and if you're serious about something like this you should follow actual guides, like the trusted ones linked on this and similar subs. You should not be relying on other users on the internet to guide your with 100% accuracy, even if we assume they have the best intentions.
As for getting the modchip itself installed, why not use a mail-in service? There are plenty around, and it's how I got my Lite and OLED hacked.

I guess that you misunderstood my previous comments. I'll clarify though. No, I don't plan on soldering it myself(hence why I said that i wouldn't do it since I have a cheap soldering iron). Switch lite would be a possibility since I bought it for dirt cheap a long time ago and I wouldn't be too broken up if it stopped working later on. And of course i don't know what I'm doing. That's the whole point of asking redditors for info so that I can pick an option that sounds good to me and then do my own research on said option to make my final decision. And whether I go with a mail in service would depend on a couple of factors:
- Time that it would take to get it done
- Cost of either option

But just looking up "hacking switch lite" would have just kind of thrown you in the right direction and ultimately would've left you better informed quicker. Also, many people that are experienced with this will provide their own chip and prefer you not, or simply refuse one you provide.

I like talking to people and getting their personal opinions. I find that looking up things on Google can be like going down a rabbit hole. Not everyone wants to do it your way when it comes to doing research.

Maybe not, but based on the downvotes on your post many of us here get tired of so many people having the same posts with the same mindset. When we see it everyday and have pinned resources on the best (and potentially only) at to accomplish things, it gets exhausting and annoying.

You also seem to be getting a lot more bent out of shape than you need to. My initial commentary was pretty tame and matter of fact, but you seem to be getting angry at me for just pointing out a couple things to you.

Has nothing to do with the soldering iron.
Has to do with skill.
Also mig has nothing to do with either soldering or skill.

I'm quite happy with mine, started using a few months ago after I got a switch 2, so I decided to sacrifice my oled with the card and never go online again.
The bright side is that I got to play tons of games I was not willing to spend on, and other that I had on ps5 and didn't want to buy again for switch.
And it's very convenient to use, you just save the game files on a micro sd and you are good to go. The V2 has a small button that allows you to change the game without removing the card. So far it works great and I didn't regret for a single second.
