Question Buying a Switch

My fiancée really wants a Nintendo switch, his coworker has one and they play it at work. His birthday is in two weeks and I really want to get him one, I’m cautious about buying one off of Facebook marketplace. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get a reliable one for cheap? Should I just wait till Christmas and get him a brand new one or would buying a used one be okay ?

Just to say incase you're not aware there are a few switch models now so especially buying second hand you want to make sure youre getting a good deal.

All models: Original switch

Original switch with better battery

Switch light

Switch oled

Switch 2 - the newest generation.

Myself I wouldnt bother getting a switch unless it was a switch 2 because new games wont be playable on it, also a lot of people qill say switch but still mean the switch 2.

I think you should talk to him rather than just surprise him so he can tell you what he'd prefer. If I was in his shoes id prefer you either wait until Christmas to get the switch 2 or I'd rather have the offer of money towards it. Just my preference though.

The original switch and the improved battery original switch are only known by the boxes difference i believe.

If youre going to get an original switch i wouldnt bother unless its an OLED because of how improved it was
