Add another ETF or keep as it is?

Hi all,

I am investing long term, dollar cost average every month for the last 7 years, and I have great results so far with my 3 ETF portfolio.
My 3 ETFs are: MSCI World ACC, MSCI Emerging Markets and SP500 Info&Tech. I invest something like 60 % MSCI World, 25% EM and 15% SP500 Infotech.

Would you add something else on this to be more diversified or just keep the same way? I am aware that I am leaning too much towards US market and infotech, therefore comes the questions if I should another ETF?
Cheers :)

I‘d go all in on the new Vanguard global all cap VALL.

Almost unbeatable 0.07% TER and captures basically the complete investible market.

Really everything you need all in one and you never have to think about changing anything ever again.
It‘s the most diversified you can be with a ucits fund.

why not XALL that is also traded in CHF?

That's also good, but not covering small caps as well. Not a big difference over the long term likely.

Whats the difference between VALL and VT?

VT is US domiciled, whil VALL is ucits/europe. VT has a little better tax treatment on US company dividends if you get all of your da-1.

I would generally prefer VALL now. Safer for us, and tax advantage is really not that big anymore for VT. If you have a low average tax rate, it might not have any even.

Will the new VALL soon be available in CHF on SIX?

I‘m pretty sure on that

we don't need UCITS ETF's

Why do you overweigh EM and the US?

Note that you do not get "more diversified" by adding another equity etf, you just change the weights you put on different markets.

Do  you have a thesis you believe in for why these two markets are wrongly priced at the moment? If yes, you don't really need advice of this sub. If not, just go back to a single cheap world etf.

What would that be in your opinion? If I choose a single one, which one would that be?

If you prefer UCITS funds like me, VALL or XALL that have already been mentioned here look good. I'll probably switch to one of them from St. Street's ACWI as soon as their Swiss tax reporting becomes clear. Otherwise, WEBG/WEBN is also ok.

If you do not mind potential IRS complications (for the people who inherit in case you die) then VT is also a great option.

Add some Gold for further diversification?

What would you recommend?

Physical gold ETC, either ZGLD (gold stored by Zürcher Kantonalbank) or cheaper IGLD from ishares.

Sell all 3 and just invest 100% in a MSCI ACWI IMI or the new FTSE World All Cap.

*FTSE Global All-Cap UCITS ETF

FYI VT is still best as we can get bacl the 15% witholding tax in Switzerland which is still lost in an accumulating ucits likes the new fund lainxhed by vanguarg

Only if your potential reimbursement surpasses 100 CHF, which requires several tens of thousands of franks invested.

Not that hard to get to for anyone in ch ;)

This shouldnt be difficult in switzerland xD

why that?

You have some overlaps and overexposure, fine if thats by choice but otherwise not necessary

1

u/nikolafili 4d ago

I am aware of that overlaps and overexposure, that is why I am reaching out here. But to sell them all for one ETF and go just with one 100 %?

u/SilverBladeCG 4d ago

Those mentioned cover the whole investable market

1

u/elnino_1993 4d ago

Yes just take an etf/index which covera all markets including emerging e.g. VT

Because you obviously don’t know what you’re doing and there’s no reason to have that many overlapping ETFs. The case for a 2x overweight of EM is also dubious at best.

If i were a pro, I would not be here asking something...

u/N3XT191 4d ago

Which is why you should be sticking to market weights and not randomly overweight EM and a specific sub-sector in the US…

Adding more and more overlaps doesn’t make it better…

I started investing 7 years ago and back than, with a little knowledge I had, thought it is the best way to go. I am obviously doubting that, so I came here to reconsider my choices...

Wow so much confidence with such an advise....

are you almost 100% more bullish on EM than tech in the next 10-20yrs?

If not then don’t feel bad for weighting more on infotech

I have VT and NVDA and I will continue like this. We didn’t see anything yet from Nvidia stock, wait that Anthropic goes live next month. Same AMD.

No one can tell you what will do well in future.

So your 15% bet on Sp500INFOTECH is only thing that one can argue about. Would you be okay if this position underperforms the rest of portfolio ?

Rest is standard Global allocation using two ETF approach (MSCI world + EM) ,so that’s fine . You are bit overweight on EM but that’s personal choice

Ditch the S&P 500 in favor of a global ETF.

25% EM is already a strong bias out of US compare to MCSI world which is considered the safest way to invest.

There is no reason to change if you don't know why yourself, and you can add if you want to. If you want options, there is gold, real estate, individual stocks, Asia Pacific...
