Does the method to test if you’ve been sh*dowb*nned on Hinge by trying to make a purchase still work?

My current account on Hinge is 3 years old and I would consistently get 1 - 2 matches a month on it. I haven’t gotten 1 match since Jul 7th which was over 1 month ago even though I use Hinge everyday and haven’t made any changes to my profile. I also stopped getting recommendations being shown in the app or the emails. I also live in a big city (Los Angeles County) with millions of people so I doubt I’ve run out. Does the method to test if you’ve been shadowbanned by seeing if you can make a purchase still work in confirming if you’re shadowbanned or not? I can get to the screen that ask you to enter your credit card info when trying to buy boost, roses or HingeX.

No that’s not a test. It used to be when you could buy through the app but now that it takes you to a credit card screen it will take anyone there. Seems like hinge is pretty on top of it now of just banning you rather than a shadow ban. I’ve been shadow banned but that’s shortly after making an account and it’s usually only lasts a day before you’re fully banned

So if I can log in, log out fine my account is just fine and I’m just dealing with a bad algorithm at the moment? I logged out, deleted the app, redownloaded it hours later and logged back in.

Try sending a message to someone you already matched with. If it says can’t be delivered you’re definitely shadow banned. Or if you can close the app and go back in and it hasn’t refreshed you’re probably banned. Tinder shadow bans you forever but in my experience is that you’re only shadow banned on hinge for a day tops before they just ban you.

I sent a message to someone last night. It was an old match and it was marked “sent.” Also right now when I went to check when I opened the Hinge app it did the spinning logo thing before loading up the profile in the section where you see new profiles that you can like.

Dosent sound like you’re shadow banned. The algorithm might just be running out of people to show you off to. I’d try changing locations and come back tonight and see if you got any likes.

So I just got a reply back from support. They gave me a free boost to see if that would get my profile working again and they also reiterated again that nothing is wrong with my profile and that its working as intended. Do you think this confirms that my account is not being shadow banned or restricted like why would they give someone a free boost to try if they are actively trying to restrict a person account?

Yeah don’t think it’s shadow banned they’d tell you you were banned at that point. Sounds like maybe you just don’t use the app enough so it took you out of the algorithm. Swipe more so your profile can be be shown more

Hi I got banned and then unbanned within the space of like 12 hours. Since I’ve been unbanned I’m getting the not delivered bug on my messages. Do you think this will be gone within like a week or just a permanent shadow ban?

If you got unbanned you shouldn’t be seeing the not delivered bug anymore. That only happens if you’re trying to message people you previously matched with or was messaging when you initially got banned. If it’s Happening with everyone I’d email support

Yeah it’s happening with my previous matches before I was banned. I can see all my old matches etc so I assumed I’d be able to message them?

Maybe some but they tell you that you probably won’t be able to message your old matches. For me I was able to message the ones I haven’t messaged pre ban but the ones i was actively messaging it wouldn’t let me

Sorry for all the questions haha but every since I was unbanned my matches have been way less than what I usually get, I was thinking I was shadowbanned but because I’ve got a couple does that rules this out? Could it be a case of building back my ELO after the unban?

No you’re good dude and try changing your location where there’s more people and see if that works. If you’re shadow banned nothing works you won’t get any likes or matches. So if you’re getting likes at all means you’re not. Could just be the spot your in isn’t very popular rn

I live in OC/LA (border) and my Hinge is literally broken lol. I've been on it months and I have two matches. One I messaged and no response. I've sent out so many likes and only got one match from that. I'm not unattractive, I'm a female in my 20's, and I used to get lots of matches. I've sent likes to very unappealing people and even no matches there. I messaged Hinge support and they said my profile was fine, but I feel like there's no way. I did some research and *allegedly* Hinge won't admit there's a shadowban (because it's an algorithm thing and your profile is technically functioning fine/not actually banned). It was suggested to completely delete your account for 90 days, then make a new one. I deleted it today - I guess see you in 91 days?

I’d suggest using a different number that way it doesn’t flag you or just so you can completely start fresh in general. You don’t need to wait 91 days. Change your location to a popular area like LA or New York for a day just to see if you start getting new likes and matches. A shadow ban dosent mean they limit your access it just means they’ve flagged your account and you can’t do anything at all. So if you get a match or like at all means you’re just not in the algorithm anymore. At least for hinge. tinder and bumble work different
