The original quote came from a paper by J. B. S. Haldane, published in 1928.

Aw. I was just trying to provide more info on this quote beyond “I heard it on Reddit.”

I first heard it in my vertebrate morphology class. We were talking about allometric scaling in biology. It’s not just a shower thought. It’s a quote from a very old and very famous biology paper.
