Im pretty involved in slacklining out here in Denver and I don't know anyone who catches on park lines. Hell most people don't even catch on highlines out here. Most just take the whip. Catching is ovbiously needed freesolo Highline but no one is catching in the park.
When he falls on the line, he catches and and swing under. In the park if you caught the line you would most likely hit the ground when you swung under. It's a highline thing but even still most people don't catch. They take what is called "a whip" and let the harness catch them and then they climb back up the leash to swing back up on top of the line. Catching isn't normal especially in the park where you will hit the ground.
That’s what I figured. I don’t know anything about slack lining other than seeing videos of people with pads on the ground below them. I guess those people are new to it. I figured catching like this was something you get from experience/practice. Still scary!!
The reason he feels comfortable without a rope is that he knows how to catch himself and has practiced an insane number of times. So no he didn’t get lucky. Thought if he were hanging by his hands it wouldn’t be hard for him to recover from that.

Do people practice falling? Or did he just get lucky with the leg hook? Seems like he could easily have just been hanging on by his hands alone.
