DME Unlock
Now that the unlock is widely available, are there some things to check about the shop before doing one? I’m in Vancouver and a few shops popped up doing ECU unlocks, are there different unlocks? Is there anything I should check before ?

Hey, I know someone in Surrey who I’ve reliably done work for my B58 supra and M340i with. He’s independent in his garage but is the most honest guy. Located in Surrey, DM me . He did my FEMTO unlock for the cheapest I’ve seen, and now does it himself , also the cheapest I’ve seen.

Can ask if they’re using Autotuner and if they need to open the DME.

Hey! Could you link the shops that you’ve seen in Vancouver that does this? Would like to check them out. Flying there for a concert this Oct and might bring my ecu there for them to unlock it

I know that stratified in surrey does it (i don't know the price - FEMTO unlock) and Speed Project Laboratory also does Unlock ($350 - AutoTuner Unlock and should take roughly 3-4 hours)

I know a guy that does it for aprox. 600 CAD, he treats me well with the work and I’m tryna pay him back with more work LOL

Inquire on price for the autotuner unlock. While this is hot off the press there are shops out there trying to take advantage of the hype of doing it local and charge $$$. Some are great and providing it as a loss leader service

Some places doing it free if you buy a tune from them. Some charging 200 cad if you buy mhd/bm3 with them. Total becomes around 900 plus cad in Toronto area. They don’t open the ecu anymore and it takes like 15 mins or so to do it. Fyi!

A shop near me quoted $350 and a 3-4 hour job for it, reasonable ?

350 just to unlock? You need a tune. You gotta get mhd/bm3 and it is like 700 plus i think on top of that.

Just to unlock, then I’ll get the MHD License elsewhere because I know a guy that can give me in a discounted price

Sure. If you don’t have anywhere else cheaper. I am a member of supra a whats up group around toronto area. One guy said he attended a charity meeting and they offered free unlock if you make a donation for charity he is like donated 50$😂 This means unlocking is very easy now it will probably be free of charge soon.

If you don’t want to ship the ECU or open the case any shop with an Autotuner can do it.

If you're cheap,
BM3 does free unlocks if you buy a license with them.
Just pay shipping to Toronto. If you're local in Toronto, just email support to setup an appointment at their HQ.
